So ive been using midwayusa a lot since its a ten minute drive from my place. I usally call and place my order and everytime i tell the lady/guy to go ahead and do the round up for the NRA before they even ask me if i want to.

I placed my order and picked it up like a usually do but this time i stopped by the door and read a sign that ive noticed before but never took the time to stop and read it. I read it and it asked that if you have a firearm to leave it in your vehicle because firearms are not allowed for l liability reasons. So i turned around and disarmed my self and went in to get my stuff. after picking up my stuff i wrote midwayusa a letter wanting know why. havent had a reply and am thinking i probably wont get one. Maybe ill go somewere else.

Any of you find that a little frustrating.....?

Concealed means concealed... ;)

As many threads as we read re ND in gunstores and gunshows I can kinda see their point.

Responding to your letter would have been courteous tho.

I don't see this as a Midway problem, it is an insurance problem. Just ask all the people who have had their home owner's insurance policy cancelled because of the type of dog they have. I'm sure Midway does what they can to support gun owners, but this policy is probably not their choice.

The one I find confusing is Cabela's. They have a sign located in several locations in the store that it's ok to conceal carry or open carry in the store. But when I bought a 1903 A3 it had to be store carried from the gun library to the service counter and from the service counter out the door! I mentioned this to the woman that checked me out at the service counter but she couldn't understand what I was saying. I have a loaded ccw that's ok but the unloaded 70 year old bolt action rifle made me a danger to the store? Must take a lawyer to understand why.

You know, I just don't have a problem with it. Any store is actually private property and property owners have various rights, even if the property is open to the public. I may not agree with their no gun policy, but I certainly don't have a problem with them excercising their right to post it and we can all choose whether we want to do business with them or not.

I go into lot of sports good stores, and haven't found store yet that doesn't say NO LOADED GUNS, beyond this point.

Don't even think about bring weapon on Government installations, incase you are wondering.

All of the gun shops I go to around here have signs saying "No loaded firearms permitted inside the store." It doesn't stop me from trading with them...I really don't think they are anti-gun. Neither do I think they are concerned about being robbed.

I think they are more concerned about someone bringing a loaded gun into the store to sell, trade, or have repaired, which necessitates handling the gun, and then possibly having a ND that hurts or kills other customers.

i just a little dissapointed that they have that policy....specially when i give them money to give to the NRA, i guess ill stop being a baby about it lol. but it would have been nice if they would have emailed me back about it.

Almost every store or Dr office has a sign like that. This topic comes and goes ad nauseum.

Keep it concealed and don't worry about it.

Even the gun stores have the sign. Some have altered it to read we respect the right to concealed carry, just keep it concealed.

If you boycott every store that has the sign you will not go out very often.

All they can do is ask you to leave.

Federal Buildings and Bars, Sporting Events and Schools are adifferent story.

THIS ^^^^
An accidental discharge from some idiot who "Thinks" his weapon is unloaded. Too many people out there packing with no clue about gun safety. The biggest threat is some guy with (grandpaws) shotgun or rifle or handgun wanting to trade it in or sell it. More likely to happen than getting robbed.
I will just keep mine concealed and not worry about it.
Not in a government building or airport etc.. but in case of a store like Cabelas, Midway etc. I'll keep my gun on my person. If discovered to be carrying and asked to leave i will do so. I will not be a sheep however. Don't sweat it. They are not Anti-gun, they just have liability issues to deal with to keep insurance companies and corporate happy.

Just happened the other day at a PA gunshop. Father didn't know a pistol was loaded when he took it to a gunshop to sell. Ended with him accidently , or negligently shooting and killing his own son..

I have a CCW, and my state has a open carry law.
I belive in carrying cocealed. That means nobody knows you a carrying.
You never show your gun to anyone.
Fortuanly I don't read signs. So I have never seen any of these signs.
I know from my CCW class, that I can't carry at schools, airports, court houses, or bars. So I don't!
But I carry everywhere else. I have never heard a peep. If some how some one guesses I was carrying I have never had anyone say anything.

If I did get busted in some store that had some kind of sign that I didn't see. I would say what sign? Ok I will leave, and won't come back.
I am a OWG. No problem. I also usually drive five or so over, if you know what I mean.

I bet they have to because of lawyers and insurance that simple. They want to have a store front open to the general public then they don't have a choice.

In fact the local indoor shooting range has a huge sign

"NO LOADED FIREARMS BEYOND THIS POINT" at the front door.

Once you get to the 2nd door leading into the shooting range there is another huge sign "LOADED FIRE ARMS PERMITTED BEYOND THIS POINT".

My guess is its to keep the lawyers and insurance company's happy.

I had a sign on my shop door saying that if you had a concealed firearm , keep it holstered. If for any reason you needed to bring it out (sale/trade/holster fit/etc), tell store personal first.

Had a few 'gangsta' looking (and acting the part) come in one night. At the far counter , one pulled a small .25 out of his pocket and pulled the slide back with the other two huddled on his sides. He did not like the reaction he got , me and the off-duty cop I had working with me drawing down on them.

He was checking the chamber , as he was looking for a magazine. Accused me of 'racially profiling' them.

But I explained that's why the sign was on the door, and since I look like a stereotypical 'outlaw biker' , I doubt I would have received any different reaction.

Base Security at MCAS Miramar has told me if I'm in compliance with California law (handguns unloaded in a locked container) I'm GTG. I understand Pendleton is the same way.

The other sign that one gun shop I frequent has posted is "No oversize or baggy clothing allowed in the store." One day I asked them that since this describes my wardrobe, and actually my physique as well, did they want me to disrobe upon entry?

They quickly said no, it didn't apply to me. :D
