The reason I asked was I bought what was supposed to be, diamond target grips for my model 25 square butt, BUT they don’t fit ?

Possibly the grips are for a different frame size. Please post a picture of the M25 and the grips.

Nice thing about round-butt frames is that you can get conversion stocks that will make them look and feel like square butts. I did that with this 625-2 Model of1988. Now the gun feels way more comfortable and solid in my hand. Converting square butt guns to round butt style is much more complex and involves altering the frame.

Sometimes, the universal fit stocks aren't. :(

It can be due to minor differences in the position of the hole for the stock locator pin, the stock discs or of the dimensions of the stocks themselves. Photos would help.

Prior to 1995, I believe all N-frame revolvers had square butts. Then they went round.

I have many RB N frames that were made well before 1995. I think the first were the LH 3” guns. My 3” 24-3 dates to 1983.

The shape of the butt can affect how the top of the grip whacks the web of your hand.

And there are two sizes of Factory N frame rd butt grip frames: they are both K frame size/shape at the butt. But one is N frame size/width (front to back) at the top of the grip frame and the other is K frame width.

The mod 25 is actually mark mod 25 in the yoke, I was told 59-60? Here is a pick of the offending grips

Those appear to be nice grips, but they are definitely for a square butt frame. I can't tell from the pictures if they are for a K-frame or N-frame gun.

I think maybe I got ebayed and they are K frame ,how do I confirm?

I copied this pic from the forum for future reference. Measure the distance from the edge of the washer to the edge of the wood as pictured. Did you determine if your gun was a square butt or round butt?

Personally I think they ruined the N Frame by playing with the grip size. This change was made to make is easier to find after market grips for those who didn’t like the OEM stocks. Now those who liked the original square Butt have to search aftermarket conversion grip.
