WOW

Thanks for posting this. My son and I have this one on our list. We visited the John M. Browning Museum last winter in Ogden Utah and we are hooked on firearms museums now. Do you have other cool pictures?

Glad you're all enjoying the firearms on display at the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA and the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO. We've also got another one - Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest - at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM.

At any rate, check out NRA Museums: for tons of photos of all the guns in our collections!

This web-site is nothing short of outstanding. These museams look amazing as well. These sorts of programs will win you more hearts and minds of folks on the fence about firearms than a 1000 lobbyists. Probably cost far less as well!

Thanks for your kind words!

Clark Gable's Registered Magnum is on loan to the NRA Museum from noted gun dealer/collector Ron Peterson, of New Mexico. Some year's ago, when I owned Gary Cooper's Registered Magnum and Jimmy Stewart's Registered Magnum, ( Reg. No. 100 ) I tried to convince Ron to add Gable's gun to my stash. No Luck! Cooper's widow, Rocky Cooper, told me that Jimmy had obtained his RM early in production through a Los Angeles area S&W distributor and the Gary and Clark decided they needed one, as they were hunting and shooting buddies. Later Gary had my friend Arvo Ojala build him a holster for his RM, as Arvo had taught all three actors how to quick draw, etc. for their western movies. That was one of the first quick draw style holster Arvo had built ( he marked it "Coop") and it helped lead to a career for Arvo & his staff building holster rigs. Just some S&W trivia from the Good Old Days! As most of you know, S&WCA member Jim Supica is the Director of the NRA Museum. Jim has done wonders with the museum since he was hired as Director and be sure to introduce your self to him when you vist for VIP treatment. Ed.
