That little episode cost the taxpayers a bit over $300,000, according to ABC News. I just love how our government keeps spending money like it has it to spend.
If GM so urgently needs restructuring, what do you suppose we could say the U.S. Government needs?
How about all those New Yorkers who saw it flying lower than normal with a fighter escort.
After 911, i'm sure that alot of New Yorkers were scared.
Idiots.
I'm sure the president knows the whereabouts of his plane at all times. Another example of a rookie in the White House. Probably wanted a picture to send his aunt before she gets deported.
Hey Michelle look at 'em running out of the buildings!! Are you getting this on video Michelle?! This it'll be some great footage to show at the Revs. next party! Pilot can we make another pass?
This non-story has been beat to death. Photos of military aircraft with NYC as a backdrop have been SOP for many years. And it didn't cost a single dime. Those pilots need to fly to maintain currency. Doesn't matter in dollars whether it's flying over NYC or some desert.
I've been shocked at how wussy so many of these (by no means all!) have turned out to be. I chastised some of my "tough" NY relatives last year when they were still whining about how awful what happened had been for them - this was directed mainly at an aunt who hadn't been anywhere near the scene at the time and didn't see it happen except as we all did.
All I said was, "Wow, I used to brag to people about how tough New Yorkers were. And listen to you. I know there was loss of life, but it wasn't that much, really. It wasn't what it could have been by a long shot, thank God. Time was, I would have thought that a bunch of NYFD guys would have taken time off and gone to the MidEast and just settled those idiots' hash, but listen to you carry on years later about how bad it was, and you weren't even THERE. It was awful for all of us - thank God President Bush had the balls to do something about it."
There used to be a Navy Admiral in charge of the office that authorized this flight. The Annointed One decided a politician/university professor would be a better choice. Can't have people in these positions who actually know what they're doing can we.
PHOTOSHOP
Why not?
I would have done ithe Photoshop work for 1/2 the cost of them doing it for real,,,,, And I then in turn would stimulate several local gun shops!

Caldera took the blame for authorizing the project, it would be interesting to know what nitwit dreamed it up and brought it to him.
Who was on the plane? this sort of reminds me of the sub which did a fast surfacing and hit a Japanese fishing trawler off of Hawaii a few years ago 9 dead off the trawler. It turned out the sub was carrying some politicos and their supporters out on a joyride.
Maybe this is not the case on the 747 but it would be interesting to know.
In any case a photo op over Mt Rushmore shouldn't be compared to doing it over NY post 911.

My son got in trouble for doing a buzz job years ago in a Beech 99. Cost him his job and some tail feathers, but he got back on his feet ok. I guess you could call it a learning experience! What he did was absolutely nothing in comparison with this.
