I picked up my Model 13-3 today, and I was wondering if it was ever in the NYSP. Where would the numbers be. I did find the numbers C21 on the inside of the crane and grip frame, neither of which were stamped in that deep.

They seemed to stamp their revolvers issued in the 70s and 80's on the left side of the frame right above the trigger..NYSP. Perhaps some issued in the 60's as well were marked that way. Before that they were marked on the backstrap. An earlier marking was NYST (New York State Troopers).

The model 10-6 and model 13 were not marked with any NYSP markings. The model 13-3 was not an issue weapon for the NYSP. They were issued the model 13 first issue not the -3 variation. The earliest issue Colts and S&W were stamped NYST on the back strap. Starting with the model 28-2, they were stamped NYSP on the frame, left side under the cylinder.
