Anybody shoot/load for the CZ 75 9mm?

I have not shot mine for a while and went to the range with my normal loads of 9mm, 125gr LRN, 4gr HP 38 OAL 1.129.

These rounds feed and shoot perfect in a Sig, Glock, S&W, FNP9 and SA XD9.

So I go to shoot the CZ and first round jams, clear than second round jams clear that. Field strip the gun and drop a round in the barrel and sure enough its sticking out quite a bit.

Come home and start testing lengths to fit the barrel.

Had to seat the bullets to 1.095 before they would chamber properly. This is right at the min oal length for a 124gr lead bullet and boardering on max powder (depending on what book you look at) Guess these will be Plus P's!

When I was shooting this gun in the days of factory ammo, it was one of my most accurate. I find it odd why this particular gun is chambered so differently. Looking in the barrel, it has a much more pronounced chamber rim or lip.

Have not shot the adjusted loads yet, but certainly seems to have been the problem.

Anyone else load for and and shoot this gun?

My CZ-75 is virtually immune to OAL or bullet changes - it eats everything it is fed. Are you sre that OAL is the only variable?

My CZ was a little sensitive to an OAL of 1.12 that I was trying to run, so I brought my loads down to about 1.08, with a little less charge, in order to get perfect function.

What else could it be? The rounds work in every other 9mm I have. A empty resized case drops right in and falls out.

Reducing the OAL from 1.129ish to 1.095 lets the complete round drop in correctly. Crimped or not crimped using a LFC die.

Physicsguy, that OAl is right about the same sweet spot as mine.

I've read of some CZ 9mm owners having to load their rounds to a 1.065" COL to get them to feed. Back off on your minimum load a bit and try it.

Well it must be the shape of the MO Bullet Company 125 gr LRN that is causing the hang up. It is more short and round nose than any FMJ round. I tested all of the following for fit in the barrel and they all drop right in and drop out. But these are all FMJ with a more pronounced nose.

Rem GS JHP 124= 1.128 OAL
Speer GD JHP 124= 1.120

Rem UMC 115 FMJ= 1.100
Blazer Brass 115 FMJ= 1.149
Mag Tech 115 FMJ= 1.150

I just tried a dummy handload with a 124 gr FMJ (think it's a Winchester bullet) and loaded it to 1.135 oal per the Speer manual with no factory crimp and it drops right in and out of the barrel. I have a bunch of plated bullets also with the same shape. They were the ones I had been using before switching to lead. As others mentioned, never had a problem with this gun feeding anything, but they were all plated or FMJ bullets.

My conclusion again is the shape of the lead bullet

edit: here is a picture of the bullet and you can see how much rounder it is at the end than a fmj bullet, so it must be setting the round back just a bit. Odd that it just affects this barrel.

Some of the CZ-75's have a very short lede from the chamber to the rifling. Have a CZ-75 compact that must have the bullets seated shorter than it's full sized counterpart. It seems to have more to do with the amount of the full diam portion of the bullet sticking out from the case mouth.

Yes, I put some chalk on the dummy rounds and can see the mark where the bullet hangs up. It is right above the driving band where the bullet starts to form the curve. Basically this bullet needs to be seated with almost the entire driving (flat) band seated in the case.

I was going to tell you that I have no issues with my pre-B, but then remembered that I replaced the OEM barrel with a Bar-Sto, back in 1987.

I have never had a problem with this gun. I love my CZ's
But that was when I was shooting all factory loaded 9mm FMJ cheap at Wal Mart stuff. I had not tried lead in this gun until now. I shot the plated stuff fine also.

I shortened the OAL of some lead rounds and loaded a bunch of plated, so all should be good for the next range trip.

Hi, I am having a similar problem with my M&P9c. I have bullets from Dardascast which look just like the ones you have from Missouri bullet.

I was hoping to make up loads with Bullseye and Power Pistol. Hornady lists a starting charge of 4.3 at 900 fps for their lead bullet. I'm wondering if this is why my 40S&W loads seemed too fast (besides the Federal primer being hotter). I will have to try seating those bullets to the barrel as well.

Reloading is full of opportunities for "learning experiences"!
