Observations on New M&P 15 OR

I decided to take advantage of S&W's rebate program before it ended today and picked up an Optic Ready M&P 15. I did my research; reviews, comparison lists, etc. and decided that, for the money, the S&W was the way to go.

I did notice that this carbine came with an M16 bolt carrier and I was wondering if this is something new as the comparison charts noted that that S&W used an AR-15 style carrier. I own a couple of Colts and DPMS's and am familiar wit bolt carrier differences. Also, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this.

Anyways, I just mounted a 3.5X ACOG on it and will be heading to the range soon for a test drive.

I bought a MP-15 OR just before the '08 elections. It's a fine gun - but like all AR's, you seem to find things to buy it.

I didn't think any of S&W's less expensive rifles came with a M16 BCG.
