Ocean Spray deceitful labeling

back in the day "everclear" was a brand

I think you've stumbled upon the problem, if there is a problem. And just for the record, Everclear isn't 150 proof, its way up above 190 proof. The only reason its not more is because it costs big bucks to get the last few bits of water out. Most folks dilute it anyhow, using water.

I tend to recall from years past reading about pommegranete wine. I've never seen any in a store, but I'm a glutton for the fruits. They've just hit the local groceries for the season. Sam's club is the best place I've found. I had one the other night, and I'll probably pick another one clean tonight.

Everclear is also good with orchid beans. You just soak them for a while and presto, you've got a pretty good flavoring. Everclear also works well in making Jello, but it requires some additional water to make it jell. Trust me on that.

As for ingredients, I try to never read them, and I've seen hot dogs made, but I still eat them on occasion. I do like them very well cooked, as in black on the outside. Gives me assurances it's killed some or most of the evil things inside them. Sterilizes the floor sweepings they use as filler! :)

This is how I like my cranberry juice: With vodka and club soda over ice.

We used to drink a lot of Tang as kids because we traveled like gypsies and my mother would mix it up in the morning as our orange juice. It was a lot better than the powdered milk mix for the cereal.

Trader Joe's...100% pomegranate juice - It's like $4.79 or such

Makes an awesome martini.

1 parts juice
1 part vodka
1 part triple sec
generous amount lime or lemon

I worked for OceanSpray for 15 years in middle management.

Depending on the product, it will contain somewhere between 20-30% cranberry juice. When other juices are added, the cranberry juice content is reduced so that the cranberry's natural acidic/tart properties don't overwhelm the other juice(s).

Cranberries are so acidic that you wouldn't want to drink any of it if the juice/water content was any higher. If it was higher, the sugars needed to offset the sour/bitter taste would be so excessive that it would be undrinkable.

The acid levels of the cranberry is so high that we were given 2 pairs of shoes a year, because the fresh squeezed juice which spilled on the floor of the bottling area would eat the rubber soles off of them.

Most people think more juice is better. In the case of the cranberry, this is not true.

I know as much about cran-juice as I do women (interesting subjects, but no in-depth knowledge).

However, Nicksterdemus, I wanted to say that I sure wish I had your spare time!

Oh, and don't file any kind of suit that would stop Ocean Spray from making jellied cranberry sauce, okay? Thanks.

I drink gallons of the company's DIET Cranberry-Pomegranate juice -- good stuff. The sweetness is from sucralose or some calorie-free sweetener, and according to the label doesn't have any grape or apple juice in it.

I fully take the point about cranberry bitterness. Every so often I pick up a pack of dried cranberries becaus they are supposed to be good for you, but the flavor is so tart under all the sugar they are coated with that I can only eat a few. I have tried to substitute them in breakfast rice when I was out of raisins. That was not a completely successful experiment.

I don't have any problems with dried cranberries, on or off my cereal. I eat them a handful at a time. Probably good for the urinary tract.

BatbC: I agree with you on how to drink your cranberry juice. It tastes awfully good here when the temperature outside is over 100.

When I was in high shcool (a long time ago), one of my classmates was a guy named Roessler. This was in Connecticut. His father owned Roessler's Hot Dogs, and he worked in the plant one summer. After that he wouldn't eat any of the hot dogs the school served; he had seen what went into them. I doubt Roessler's is still in existence. Anyone here from Connecticut who could enlighten me.
