Looking for explanation of Odd markings on an early 4006 - pictures below - sorry for quality but I copied off internet.

CAT.6248 below normal s/n and Model TFN0265 and Mod 4006 on Left of frame.

Odd markings on Right of frame. slide, and side of barrel - cant discern but it reminds me of ordinance bomb markings I have seen on M1903 and M1917 rifles - plus other odd markings incl star on barrel.

Otherwise normal looking early 4006 circa 1991 with narrow slide hood and yellow follower mags.

European proof marks from an exported pistol, would be my guess.
My first thought. Except for the CAT. marking on left below Model 4006 they remind me of markings on my Walther PPK - but no Import markings that I can see. And as best I can make out they look kind of like US Ordinance markings on barrels of WW2 rifles. I have sent question to seller. May be able to get better pictures.

CAT is Italian. Some quirk in Italian gun law. Berettas frequently have that mark.
Right on the Mark - just imported back from Italy per Seller. Not sure about Import Marking - Question pending - cant see any in pictures, but I have found in inconspicuous locations like bottom of magwell covered when mag in place. Or maybe a Bringback. Thanks for response.
Best, ACEd

A 4006 going to Europe would be an odd one but certainly possible. The a dealer out of Minot that gets a lot of weird stuff like this. Very discrete import marks.

Hello just went to google to translate Fuchs text, which reads , "Liège test bench "proven foreign weapon other than CIP"

A chart like this may come in handy some day
