If I get bored with the 500 I unlimber the .458 Win Mag.

I had my right shoulder rebuilt a number of years ago, big banger rifles are no fun, big banger pistols are ok though..

A couple of my 50's. Desert Eagle 50AE and a Performance Center S&W 500.

Very nice. I've got to get me another Desert Eagle again one of these days. I used to have one of the earlier generation ones in .44mag and sold it. But one of those Mk.XIX ones with the .44mag/.50AE combo barrel sets sure looks like a great companion piece for my 500 PC LH revolver.

My only X-frame is the .460V.

Deviations from stock are : Blank comp, plugged IL and Pachmayr Grippers.

Main diet consists of hardcast 300gr. reloads, but have also tested some 410gr. and 450gr. hardcasts.

:)

YOU my friend have sorted through all the hyperbole and come up with the RIGHT conclusion! The 6.5" partial shroud barrel is probably THE ideal of all the .500 models!
It POINTS the best of all....balances far better than the 8 3/8ths barrel, and does NOT deliver anything close to the sonic wave impulse to the ears as does the models with the removable compensator.
It weighs very little more than the 4" model, and IF S&W has done their job right it will deliver greater velocity than the short barrel (though my 4" model shoots almost 100 fps FASTER than my 6.5" model).
The main advantage to the 6.5" is how naturally it comes onto target...maybe not meaningful when shooting flapping paper, but VERY important when shooting at a head the size of a transmission, covered with fur, and topped off with finger-length teeth!

I 100% agree. I found that my 6.5" handled head and shoulders above the 8 3/8" and was much easier to aim than the 4". Maybe I'm just a sucker for half lugged revolvers.

Although when I got the chance to resupply my 500 stock with a John Ross Performance Center 5", I had to go for it. Tighter cylinder to barrel gap (.003 vs .005), faster twist to better stabilize heavy bullets, and 1.5" less overall length to pack a little easier. I do miss the top ports on the 6.5" though. They kept the muzzle rise down a bit.

I only have one. The 6.5" 500. I'm excited to try it out. I ordered a Weigand rail to put on a Red Dot or scope.

I only started getting bigger Magnums a few months ago.

6.5" 500
7.5" 454 Casull SRH
7.5" PC 629 Hunter.

Its made by Uncle Mike's and its called the Sidekick. I have never found it on their website so Id call them and ask. I was lucky the gun shop I bout the 500 at just had got it in and gave me a good deal on it. I really like it, but I need to wear my back up in a shoulder holster to help keep my pants up if I do some walking in the woods. Just wearing around the range/campsite is ok, but heavy walking it will pull yer pants off without some upper support like spenders or a shoulder holster

So I know this tread is kinda old now but I was bored and cruising through it and saw this. I ended up getting a semi-custom one made. Its a spring loaded open front holster so I don't have to draw it just pull straight out the front. thought you might be interested. And I can keep my pants up!
