Oh to Live in California!

Daughter lives there and is in law enforcement area, not a cop. She is pretty pro gun, attends pro gun events.
I would not live there. Besides the terrible gun laws, there is the issue of taxes. They are horrendous.

There are petitions at all the guns shops against these proposals. Jerry Brown has switched his tune where he was against many of these and now he is for. Big surprise.

Recently there has been smash and grab break-ins at many of the local gunshops. Hundreds of guns now in the hands of criminals. One major gunshop put in concrete road barricades in front of the sidewalk to the door so that would not happen. The police chief and city is all up in arms that it "looks ugly" and isn't permitted instead of being more concerned about preventing gun thefts by criminals. Customers have suggested painting them and adding some hanging plants to make them more attractive.

it is sad because this is a beautiful state, but we will run from CA as soon as we can.

I would no more live in California than I'd live in North Korea or Iran, and guns are only a part of it.

This for me as well ^^^
You couldn't pay me to stay in California for more than a week.
I might visit someday but would not even consider living in
Govenor Moonbeams state.

Another california bashing thread.

At least no one has yet suggested an earthquake drag California into the Pacific Ocean thereby killing millions including me and mine. It's true that some have given up and moved away from the anti 2a politics. I can afford to move and retire in most any other state of my choice. However, I for one choose to remain and continue the fight. We may eventually loose most of our gun rights, but not without causing all the pain we can towards the enemy.

The key to gun rights in California and the rest of the nation as well will eventually come down to this November's national election and a half dozen swing states. The SCOTUS appointments following will decide for all of us. I promise to do my part and fight for the common cause of all responsible gun owners.

I was borne and raised in central California by parents that migrated here from the Oklahoma dust bowl during the great depression. I'm not going anywhere!

Both of my sisters and all of my nieces & nephews lived in CA at one time. Most (6 of 8) of the nieces & nephews have now moved to AZ.

My sisters do still keep their mid-western values and are not tree hugging libs and don't care for the political climate of the state but at their ages I don't see them leaving. But maybe, as not many of their grandkids are in CA.

One of my sons moved to California as he is the owner of a coral importing firm. I wonder just where I failed as a father?

I once gave my son my .243 Sako Forrester and a Mossberg slug gun with which he took a beautiful 8 point whitetail. Those guns are in my safe here on the east coast rather than have the hassle of shipping them to the land of fruits, nuts and flakes. Problem is, NYS is slowly playing catch-up and soon, I'll have to remove all my guns from the New York State of Insanity.

Not to forget the roster of approved safe handguns slowly strangling and limiting and eventually forbidding the sale of new handguns. Not that LE or politicians are impeded by this roster, they can buy anything they want, so safety appears to be a label with no bearing, after all, if it's unsafe, how can LE or politicians buy them?

Don't forget the lead ammo ban either.

The D party controls this State, this is their utopia.

Can't ban the guns, go after the ammo and restrict what makes a gun a gun.

Petitions will likely make the ballot. Not sure of the vote outcome.
Most if not all of the newly singed laws are unconstitutional and will be decided by the courts. The 9th district is already stacked against us. That makes this November's national election and SCOTUS appointments the determining factor. We need to make the stand here and now!

Politically/financially? Grrrr. Not so much, for quite a long time.

As a mid 50's kid on the Peninsula, I've had a front-row seat watching it all come to pass.

I've had connections with pistols for a long while, off and on.
Picked up a Shield 9 earlier this year.
Never owned a long gun; have shot a bunch my brother owns.
22's, 22 Mag, a 6.5 and a 308 Mauser and his G3.
Mostly all bolts and a few semi autos.
Fun stuff!!!

With the new 'law passages', I opted/jumped in to the AR 15 universe. Sport II.

Late to the AR 15 party, but if I don't buy now, I may not be able to later.
(My brother picked up his first AR 15 around the same time.)

I'm currently stocking up on ample quantities of needed parts, additions and such that will hold out for my future; whether they be on site or not.
Along with needed tools that will assist me in repair and configurations.

UTube vids about the 2A universe of cleaning, fixing, changing, maintaining one's varied caliber pieces have become more and more on my view list; network TV ain't worth much of a spit anymore.

I know of Kali areas and have connections there that I can head to if the s*** really does hit the fan.

Both self and my brother have signed all the petitions to get this garbage at least placed on hold so it can get onto the ballot.
I have seen countless folks at different Sac locations lining up and signing.

Crossing fingers that those of us us who've been Kali-'fornicators', quietly sheltering under the rocks and shoals, have had enough of this 'poor victims' garbage to get out and vote our minds to take care of at least our State bizness.
We're up against the 9th Circuit clown-fest...

Hoping also that the LEGION of the NATIONAL 2A mind-set folks come out from under and vote it so our soon-to-be-appointed Supreme Court doesn't just Nationally strip the 2A out from under ALL of us.

Born and raised in California. Still live here. The gun laws are just one issue that is hurting us. The democrats have controlled this state for so long and have had control over all three branches of government.

What is worse than the gun laws (hard to believe) is the business climate here. So many restrictions, rules, permits, and regulations required here. Everything from energy cap and trade, EPA (and the California equivalents CARB, AQMD) CalOSHA, and high taxes. The latest one being a tax on receivables, not even profits! Businesses are moving out of the state left and right. This effects the small businesses such as my own. I have lost many customers that are either moving out of state, or moving production offshore.

There was a time when California was king. Aerospace industry was based mostly here in Southern California. Let's hope that people have had enough and return to the way it was.

However even this year there isn't a republican running for Barbara Boxers senate seat. There are two Democrats on the ballet. The majority of people here in California just don't get it.
