OK, I've had enough of "Tactical" but this is way over the top!

Years ago my company was going to send me somewhere in texas to set up a unit to guard a downed aircraft. At the last minute my chief bummped me to get out and took the detail. He told me when he got back that he had hired some local guard outfit and when he went in the middle of the night to see how it was going, he saw the guard was sporting a huge bowie knife in his belt. My boss says, "Whats that for?" The guard tells him, "Thats fer gittin in close"! Some people read too many comic books!

I read an article a couple of years ago about a Army Ranger in Iraq going hand to hand with an terrorist. The young Ranger sent the terrorist to the land of the 72 virgins with a Tomahawk.

Roger's Ranger Rules #1. I guess if it was good enough for Major Rogers, it was good enough for him.

My Oh, My, I just went and got my flyer and saw it.
It is absoluty Tactically Tactical.
All the time I in spent in Ground Combat, I never wanted to get
close enought to use a bayonet or a Tommyhawk.
A 40mm round out of a M79 did arm until 12-14 feet and even that was too close to Mr. Charles for my liking.

Gents, I saw a number of similiar tomahawks while in Vietnam. Guess they were issued to some groups.

I don't have the flyer so I can't look, but we I'll bet it was painted black. If you paint something black it is automatically "Tactical".
I was in a Police uniform shop yesterday and saw a "Tactical" handcuff key. Yep, it was black.

That's a cheapo tactical tomahawk.

I think Benchmade makes one that is forged and doesn't even have a sharp edge on it for around $300.00

I own a tomahawk, genuine native American. It's made of stone and found it in my garden. :D I need to make a picture of it, but I haven't gotten around to making a handle for it.

Real tactical tomahawks don't use any steel. . .they use a sharpened piece of buffalo jaw. . .just ask General Custer.

I am a personal fan of the rail mounted bayonet for pistols by Laserlyte, find it a very practical necessity.....

LaserLyte : Flashlyte LL-1 : Pistol Bayonet PB-1 : Laser Training System LT-1

I've heard somebody makes a contraption to mount a pistol to the bottom of an AR-15 rail thereby turning the pistol into a pistol/vertical foregrip. Add the bayonet to the pistol and you ain't just tactical, you ain't just double tactical, you're ................. TRIPLE TACTICAL!

The Army does currently issue Tomahawks. They aren't made by Cold Steel, I forget who makes them. They're part of the tool kit on a Stryker and are also used for breaching.

They've been used by American forces for killing in every conflict since the days of French and Indian War, and probably before then. They actually work quite well in close, and are still a useful tool.

The Cold Steel one, if like their other models, is made in a Taiwanese hatchet factory and would not be my first choice.

What you want is a cane knife Machete – Cane Knife - Duluth Trading Company

Sharpen these with a file at about 10 degrees and I gar-on-tee you will be well prepared :D grinding season is upon us down in South Louisiana and Saturday night in the bunk house with a bunch of drunk mexican field hands means we get a lot of "cane knife" based "incidents" on the Monday Jail call downs :D After years of evaluation and observation, cane knives win out over butcher kinves usually but technique has a lot to do with it ;) If the guy is a particularly good tractor driver, he is usually allowed to bond out until after grinding and is basicly on house arrest at the bunk house (:confused) until January at which time the guy he cut is now his best friend or had forgotten about the incident or is also on house arrest for his own cutting or has gone back home. At which time we just shuffle the deck and do the right thing-whatever that might be at the time

I got duped into buying one of the cold steel ones. I tryed throwing it a few time and the damn thing bent. I cut the head off and made a skinning knife out of the remaining pieces.

Billy bob can set you up with a fine tactical slingblade that is guaranted to be the most advanced in arkansas! Not cheap, but no good ninja would consider being sent to a dangerous place without one!
