Some of you may remember about a week ago, I bought a 15-3 with original target grips and some ammo...$450...good enough deal there.
Some of you also may remember that I got a 1948 K22 demilled parts kit that had these really oddly neat custom cocobolo sapwood S&W medallion grips. Somebody apparently made or modified these grips years ago putting a stag like pattern in the wood. There is something about these grips I liked, so today, I pulled the target grips off and put these on the gun. The grips were very dry, so I wiped them with some Howards "restor-a-finish" and installed them on the 15-3. The medallions look a little coppery in the pictures, but they are actually a subdued gold finish. They fit very close to perfectly. The lighting is a little funny in the waning sun. They feel like stag, but are wood. I like the large medallion too.
I like~
I like the way they fit and feel and they are definitely unique.
