Ok: Rem 180gr SJHP in a M65-3

I understand that K frames sometimes are considered to have problems with light, fast loads.

What about the Remington 180gr SJHP?

1. Any danger of damage to the revolver?

2. Recoil tough to handle in a smaller frame?

Gander had them for $44/50 (!!) but heavier is generally better...

What do you want that ammo for? I'm sure it's designed for hunting and most likely will overpenetrate in defensive use. At some point bullets can become needlessly heavy for any application.

Expect earlier endshake with that heavy a bullet. I don't think it's needed, either. If you can't kill something with the 165 grain Remington hunting ammo, you probably need a bigger gun.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say that. I like using the heavy LBT style bullet out of my N-frame and took a nice 200# sow with it last spring. I wouldn't use a hollow point on a hog out of a .357 though.

I got a 65-1, bit of flame cutting, thousands of rounds. I wouldn't worry about 125's or 180 grains or anything. Send it back if it breaks, those 65's are tougher than they look.

I was curious about teh 180gr round because that's all I was able to find in SJHPs locally. Everything is sold out.

I accidentally shot off almost all my .357 defensive rounds. Though I had 2 more boxes, but I don't.

I think I'll wait for some 158gr standard stuff and carry the P225 in the meantime..

I don't go heavier than 158 in my Model 65. I have some handloads using 173 grain Keith bullets and 2400 but they are not fun to shoot from a K Frame.

I've shot the 180 gr. Winchester and Remington loads from a M19 with no ill effects. I actually think the 180 gr. loads are more pleasant to shoot than hot loaded 125 grain loads with the muzzle blast that goes along with the 125's.
