Have about 25 .38 S&W cartridges with frosted bullets that have US on the rim. Are they from the US Cartridge company? Or are they US military rounds? There are 2 with UMC which I believe is Union Metallic Cartridge Co, correct?

Do these have any value with cartridge collectors? Thanks, Larry

United States Cartridge Co. used both US and USCCo headstamps. UMC is Union Metallic Cartridge. Your loose cartridges have no collector value and are extremely common, even though they may be >100 years old. Now if they were in full original boxes which were in high condition, they would have some collector value. .38 S&W was never an official United States military caliber.

The thing is 38 S&W is still in production today. You can buy ammunition virtually anywhere. If it were some defunct cartridge maybe they would have some value.
