Old Guy Brand Thing

I just found a 100-rd box of that Remington load. Mine says L357M1B. They list it as 1450 fps, and the bullet looks like classic Remington with the beautiful scalloped jacket, so whether brass cases and dirty powder make it cheaper than R357M1, I don't really care. It's a screaming round either way.

I also found a full box of Federal Classic .38 Special +P 158 Gr LSWCHP. It's not in their catalog any more, so I guess I got lucky. I read a lot about of Rem vs Win with this load, but don't hear much about the Federal version. Remington seems to be the favorite because it's softer lead than the Winchester. Anybody know if these three brands used gas checks on those +P .38s?

Not to dredge up old threads, but... The Big 3 each have a limited number of loading machines and bullet forming machines. The market is 9,40 and 45 right now. They have little reason to change out the tooling a different caliber. The .380 shortage was directly attributed to this. Try finding something like 44-40 or .38 Super from them. Not happening. The smaller companies are filling in some of the gaps, but finding the components is difficult. I could not find Speer Gold Dots in any caliber for a long time. They are available on a limited basis if I am willing to pay a premium for them now.
