Old He re blue

I have a vey old He that I bought under "dealer lights". Plus I flat old didn't know what I was buyin. I paid 400 and got offered 250 for it. Needless to say I was insulted a bit. I am temped to have a nice pro re blue done to it and carry it's a bug,

What saw y'all?

Some of us prefer an old gun with some honest wear. You haven't given nearly enough information to make any sort of reasonable recommendation. Read the sticky at the top of this thread on identifying your gun. There are some knowledgeable folks on this forum who can tell you exactly what you have - if they have enough info. Pictures are invaluable. Smith & Wesson has made millions of handguns over the years with serial numbers duplicated between different models, so quite a bit of info is required to make a positive ID.

If the gun turns out to be a rare issue or otherwise collectible, a refinish can be the worst course of action. The value drops like a rock. If it's to be a truck gun, why bother?

About 99% of the time, a re-blue is not a good idea on several different levels. As you've told us absolutely nothing about your gun, there's no way to tell if it's in the 1%.

My opinion has always been that if you want a gun that looks like new, you are far better off buying a new gun than wasting your money on refurbishing an old gun.
