old military rifles

Nice group of rifles. I have had the pleasure of playing with most of the guns shown, with the exception of the Japanese Arasaka carbine.
There were many that came and went, but the 03A3 and K31 is my pick and I still play with them.
I cast my own bullets and shoot reduced loads, in them. They are more fun to shoot, this way than with full house loads.
Accuracy is way better than most would expect to to be.
K31 seems to be the best, and will hold around an inch at 100. The 03A3 is about as good, but I seem to get along with the K31 sights better than the 03A3 sights.
Still learning, and improving my loads, and bullet quality.

I really enjoyed my accumulation of SMLE rifles. I used to shoot them a lot but not so much now days. The O3A3 was a favorite too.

Shooting reduced loads can be a lot of fun. I should make some up and get out to the range this spring. For those of you who haven't seen it, E.D. Harris did some very interesting work with Red Dot.

I have a K31 fitted with a no drill scope mount that makes me look like a shooting god with the original Swiss GP11 ammo. I agree about the 03A3 sights. That razor thin front sight gets lost against the background too often for my liking.

I'm afraid most of my other milsurps are safe queens. I got sick and tired of shooting up-sun and up-wind at the last club range I belonged to, and the county range only goes to 200 yards. Yeah, like anything from 6.5 Arisaka and up is just a 200 yard round.

My US portion of my accumulation has a 1903, 1903A3, M1 Garand and a M1 Carbine.

I have a couple of those myself, and one wears what is likely the same no gunsmith mount. With GP11 that rifle is fully capable of one hole accuracy at 100yd.
