Old model Bearcat

I think this gun is from 1st year of production. And maybe a very early gun. It was given to me in 1958 if I remember correctly. SN is Hxxx. Any info appreciated.

Nice early gun! For $10, you can get a factory letter.

Your gun was likely made in 1959. As I understand it, they started with #1, went up to 999 and then added letter prefixes.

1-999
A1-A999
B1-B999
C1-C999
Etc…

Based their system, there were 82XX Bearcats made before yours. The Ruger site lists F483 as 1959 and X454 as 1960, so your is somewhere in between the two. The may have skipped the letters I and O, since they’re easy to mistake for numbers.
