Just received a box of Rem. 38 S&W Special 158 gr. Metal Point Bullet. R263 Dog Bone box from the 30's I think. Has the added on OILPROOF label. Am I correct in assuming this stuff is very hard to find?
Box and ammo are near mint. Big Larry

I don't know how rare it is but certainly a nice find. Most old center fire ammo boxes I see have some amount of wear on them just from handling. A pristine one is always nice to find. Most of the really nice older boxes I run across are 22's (probably from bricks) and military boxes (likely from old cases). The metal point stuff was certainly produced in less volume than the common lead bullet load. Again, a nice find and great for a display with an appropriate handgun.

I have two revolvers from around this period. One is a 1935 M&P and the other is a 1929 Colt Official Police. I try to collect ammo for all my guns, but with 192, it's getting pretty hard and very expensive. Big Larry
