Never heard of an Ollie's, but stores with 'Dollar' in their name are appearing all over the place around these parts.
The strange ranger of the bunch?
How about S of Columbus, NM on the border at the crossing to the town of Palomas , Mexico.

Ah the famous dollar stores. Think we have three different stores with Dollar in the store name. Dollar General, dollar store and can't remember the last one. Funny thing is we have two different dollar stores right across the street from each other. Frank

About every 3 months or so, I take the GF to the Dollar Tree. Nothing in the store over a buck. We/she buys a little junk and snack crackers and cookies for her lunch and snack break at work. I buy an occasional book and things like dryer sheets and cleaning supplies. I am fortunate to be a little better off that many retired folks and with the state of the economy in this part of the country, many see the dollar store as a primary source of basic needs. On a good day they get dressed up and go to Wal-Mart. Anyway, we usually go on date night, after dinner. Fill up several bags for about 20 bucks! Cheap Date!

There's one here apparently! Accidentally drove by a year or two ago. Stopped in....meh.... nothing special, looked like a good will store

Things change and still stay the same. In the olden days what we would call a dollar store would have been called a five & dime (5c&10c store). Many were Woolworths. Oh-Oh, I bet you forgot about them.

I remember Woolworths very well indeed. We also had Newberrys and JM Fields.
They had decent coffee and food bars back then.
I always enjoyed that.
Jim

Yes indeed. The Five and Dimes of yesterday have reappeared as the Dollar Stores of today.
Way back, One of my Memphis Aunts would take me to the downtown Woolworth's.
I would have a grilled Ham Sandwich and a fresh made Limeade.

An Ollie's just opened here a couple of months ago. Been there one time. Lots of books. Some good buys, some not so much.
Bought somegulp Blueberry Pop-Tarts, and a nice throw rug. Saw some nice prices on DIY flooring...might put down some in my gun room.

I got a word find puzzle book , paint brushes, and a jar of the sugar candy fruit slices wife loves those.

They have been springing up in many places in East Alabama in the past couple of years. Books are a bargain and some other bargains exist. Appears to be a closeout store similar to the Big Lot chain. Great place to buy cheap kids books for the young grandkids.

When I was a kid my favorite shopping place was a store called Kresse's. They had a big bulk candy section and and the chocolate covered peanuts were really good.
