Went to the gun store this morning and saw 2 Smiths setting in the case that are consignments. One of them is a 29-2 8 3/8 nickel in presentation case with all tools and papers. TT, TH, TG,
RRFS, SN# N4684xx. It has been fired, slight scoring on the cylinder.

The other is a 25-2 Target model45ACP w/ 6 1/2" barrel. TH, TT TG. SN 3795xx
Has been fired and slight wear on muzzle & slight turn ring on cylinder. Comes in wood presentation case with tools and papers.
Might make an offer for both, but don't know where they should be priced at.
Any help appreciated
thanks

I think it depends on if the seller has seen Gunbroker. If not, offer $1,000 for both. If he has, you probably won't get them for less than $3,000.

Why Bother?

A $1000 for the pair seems a bit insulting. If I were the seller I would probably counter with a higher price than I originally intended to ask for as a result.

The most recent N frame with a presentation case, etc. that I've purchased was a 6" blued 27-2. I paid $850 and thought I did pretty well.

N frames are fetching a lot of money on GB now.

Not long ago (6 months or so) I saw the exact same 29-2 as the one your are looking at in a LGS. It was in similar superb condition and had presentation box, tools etc. Hang tag price was $1200 but know it could be bought for $1000. It hung around for about a month before it disappeared.

I picked up a brand new unfired "used" s&w 29-10 6 1/2", blue with blue case, presentation case with papers for $699. For both of those offer $750 each with a $2,000 high limit. Being the 8 3/8" barrel and the other in 45acp isn't desirable. Play the game and haggle. Offer $750 each first? If it's a tough call on the sellers part seperate the deal and go for one at a time. But bundle both of them could be better.

It was a poor attempt at sarcasm on my part. It seems like every time someone asks about a price, there is someone that chimes in with a story of their $450 OTD 29-2 with all the goodies.

Realistically, I think this is a $2000-$2400 package.

Mmmm.

They are on consignment---but ? they do not have a stated price wanted for them already????

Those 25's are beginning to go crazy price wise---even more than 29's

It really depends on how motivated the seller is, AND the buyer!! 800 + 600 could be realistic. Good Luck Be Safe,

$800 for that 25?

If you are saving your Christmas money and graduation money, I'd spend it on that if you have the funds.

The 8" is not my thing, but for $800 on the 25, I would call them right now and say you'll be right over.

As you're playing down the value of the .45, you could say it's less desirable because 6" is the limit for production class competition. Weak argument, but I had to look harder for my 6" for that reason.

Both being in exceptional condition, with box and all I'd think the "average would be in the $850 to $1200 (each).

What he says!

There are several 29's, a 25, and some others, at the Cabela's (you can probably find them in the gun library) in Allen, Tx. With the presentation box, tools, etc. in the $1K range.

I would call those right in the middle of current values. If you want one/them you can try to bargain them down but I wouldn't feel guilty about paying their asking price(s).
