South of the Mason–Dixon we all get two first names; Su Amigo, Dave

One of the very best (2650+) Bullseye shooters I ever met was an Air Force team member from Mississippi named Jim Bob McCarty, and no, those weren't nicknames.

It's an altogether different story, but at Camp Perry in 1992 one day he won the NRA .22 National Match Course with a record 300-21x,, which still stands, and two days later, on the last string of the last .45 rapid fire match he dumped an entire magazine on a hospital target, lost 50 points, and lost the match. The great thing was that his attitude didn't change. He wasn't excited when he set a national record, and he wasn't dejected when he lost. He was just unflappable. Man, do I envy that ability. Wherever he is today, I wish him well, and remember how much he taught me.
