On the Case.

I have it down to ,two Case knifes. The Tiny Trapper or the Peanut. They are the same price. I like the trapper but is it to small ?It will ride in left front pocket wirh keys. Used for envelops packages general light E D C stuff. I have a swiss Army officer model in that pocket right now. Just looking to down size a bit.

You ended your last thread on selecting a small pocket knife with the decision to buy a Tiny Trapper. Apparently you are reluctant to buy one that short. Peanuts are 2 7/8" closed, Tiny Trappers 2 5/8".

No matter what blades they are assembled with I call all knives assembled with handle parts stamped out with the Peanut dies Peanuts. A standard Case Peanut is the TrapperNut, pattern 6220 1/2. It substitutes a long spey blade for pen blade. If you have time to waste and patience TrapperNuts are not hard to find on eBay. Would that not be the best of both?

A quick lookup tells me the Peanut has a 2 7/8" main blade and the Trapper a 3 1/4". I have normally carried knives with blades between 2" and 3", and find them adequate for most of general purpose daily utility work. I'd probably buy the smaller Peanut. If that's not big enough for a particular, I'd then also buy something in the 3 1/2" to 4" for those bigger jobs. That just me.

While 3 1/4" sounds about right for standard Trapper blades Peanut master blades are close to 2". 2 7/8" is the length of their handle. Wingriderz wants a tiny knife to carry along with his bigger folder.

Handle length for Case's Trappers are 2 5/8" (Tiny), 3 1/2" (Mini), 4 1/8" (standard) and about 4 1/2" for the uncommon Dog Leg Trapper.
