I decided to take my muzzleloader out today, I have not fired it since December of 2010 about a week before I hurt my left arm, an injury that still plagues me today. When I fired it last I killed a doe at 100 yards offhand with this gun, a Euroarms 1853 Enfield musketoon in .58 caliber. I use to compete with this gun, winning a silver medal with it at a 100 yard offhand musket match. It loves .577 Minie balls and 55 grains of FFG Triple 7. Today I took the gun out and was able to actually load it one handed standing it upright. Those Minie balls with a good coating of T/C bore butter slide in quite well and can be rammed home very easily. I put it on the bench and fired five rounds with it all one handed resting on a bag. When I built my deer blind three years ago I set the windows in at eye level so I can rest a gun on them, I even padded them with cloth. I don't know if I will try my luck deer hunting, but boy it felt good to fire a long gun again. I know my shooting sticks might be a bit touchy with this gun, I might try that tomorrow, but it's nice to see this gun is still dead on and can get the job done of need be.
