Chalk one up for the seniors, 50 years old Phil Mickelson won the 2021 P.G.A. Championship becoming the oldest winner of one of golf's four majors. One other thing, it was good to see crowds back at a P.G.A. tournament. Phil was mobbed by hundreds of fans after hitting his second shot to about 15 feet on the 18th green basically wrapping up win. Really a show of normal times, refreshing!!!:):):)

I watched it and cheered when Phil won! I'm a lefty too, so I always root for him. I think he's come in 2nd or 3rd over a dozen times in majors and has a habit of choking on Sunday. Over the years, I think he's broke my heart as often as the Detroit Lions!

I was holding my breath when they made the turn on Sunday. Good thing for Phil that Koepka had a bum knee. They both tried their best to give it away, but Phil was able to get things back on track and hang on. Louis Oosthuizen made a charge, but it was too late.

I know it's a bit controversial, but I was glad to see them allow laser rangefinders. I'm in favor of anything that speeds up play. I'd also like to see them allow relief if the ball is in the fairway, but stops in a divot. Maybe some day...

I was happy he won. He did his best to give it away, but no one would take it!
For a Major championship, the security plan was lacking.
To be fair, though, I'm not sure that happens if anyone else is winning, other than Tiger.

Phil is right-handed. Not really a lefty. He's just more comfortable playing from the wrong side.

When he hit his second shot on 18, the crowd closed around him. A guy in a red shirt hit him in the back, and a state trooper crushed the guy. I was happy to see him defending Phil. Wish I could find it on a video.

He played a lot better than he did at the 100th US Open (Pebble Beach), when Tiger demoralized everyone in the field, including Mickelson. I saw the whole thing in person and the level of frustration, for everyone but Woods, was incredible. Congrats to the old guy.

Actually, we stand on the right side of the ball!
I can do a number of things either way, but my upbringing locked me in. I eat with both hands, but the nuns at my parochial schools got me to write with my right hand!

I'm right eye dominant, shoot a handgun, rifle and shotgun right handed, but I shoot a bow left handed. I throw balls with my right hand (baseball, football, bowling), but I punted a football with my left foot.

My dad got me to bat left handed, because lefties are two steps closer to first base. That set the stage for me to golf left handed. It messed me up for life! ;)

I am a carved in stone righty. My brother was a dedicated lefty. My dad was one of the few truly ambidextrous people I knew. It didn't matter which hand he used for anything.

He was a low handicap golfer and it would often irritate his opponents that he carried a mix of left and right handed clubs in his bag and knew how to use them. He rarely got into jail.

I watched all four rounds. Phil was as steady as a Swiss movement.

After day three I was all in for Phil and it felt good to root for someone I like.

Day four was razor close as it should be. The biggest winner was golf itself.

He had his shaky moments like the shot into the water hole 17 on day 2 when he was smoking the field and brought them back into the tournament. That is going to happen on that course.

You don't often see the term "choking" used when talking about a 6 time major winner. Arnold Palmer probably threw away more majors than anyone who wasn't named Snead. You never hear the term used with either

Congrats to Phil. He played steady the whole tournament.

I used to play with a guy who hit his irons right handed, and his woods left handed. Strange.

I could switch hit in baseball, but never got the hang of swinging a golf club left handed. Of course, the way I played golf it really didn't matter which side I swung from....

You don't think most of the fans had been consuming adult beverages, do you?

When they were sorting thru the crowd on 18 to find Phil's tee shot, one wag yelled out, "It landed on a tee!"

I'm still laughing.
