Some sad and some good news.

First-the sad news. I was supposed to get two kittens-various ages. The older one-who has Shasta-like fur and qualities-was just too used to the amount of noise-activities and the folks who raised her-so-she was just too much out of her element to stay with me. I could not, get her to respond to anything-to eat, drink-or to play. The cat stayed hidden, so I thought it best for her-to give her back to Lisa-because-this cat would simply not eat a bite-and in not doing so-was not in her best health benefits.

However-the other and younger kitten-which is NOT-pure white like I was told-but is a sandstone tiger-stripe--which is fine by me-I love her anyway. This kitten took to me right away-loves attention, loves the toys ive bought her, eats VERY well, sleeps when I go to bed. This kitten has done extremely well-much better than id hoped-for having her world turned completely upside down-and changed. Loves the little kitty house I bought her-but also loves destroying anything that happens to be on the floor-thus completely surprising me with paper-towel messes in the morning.

Lisa has a new job at work, so just doesn't have time to post photos-so I guess ill have to take some with the digital camera I have-make copies, then send them to Qball and force-er-ask him nicely to post em for me. So-some time in future-you will get to see what this beautiful 4-legged tornado looks like.

My daughter's cat had a litter. When going to her house one little yellow kitten would always run out to me as I got out of my truck. If I ignored him he would crawl up my pants leg to get some petting. We lost one of our old cats a couple of months ago. My son went to my daughter's house and called and said yellow cat wouldn't get out of his car. I told him to bring him home. He slept purring in his lap on the way home. Usually cats don't like cars. He's been purring ever since and is doing so on the bed behind me now. This cat is very laid back. Nothing bothers him and he's very well behaved and house broken. I ain't told him about getting fixed yet.

Carl, I wish you many years of fun, love, happiness, and companionship with your new Best Feline Friend.

What did you name her?

Thank you sir, and ive not come up with a name yet, I'm leaving it up to you gents. The only thing I'm requiring, is her name has to start with an "S." My neighbor suggested I name her after Shasta, but I just can't do it.

So where are the pictures?:D

Kittens are so much fun!

I haven't taken any yet, ive still got to learn how to work my digital camera good enough to get good pics. I could use my tablet-but it's slowly dying. Even my bad photography skills look decent on it-so ill try getting a few from it on my next days off-then see if I can make a disc somewhere, then send it to Qball. Otherwise-it'll be Dec before I can get anything out. I also plan on getting some of Shasta out with these Kitten pics-as there are some stored on the tablet--but these were taken just months before she passed away. Her better healthier photos are on my other cell phone-the one the Cricket-lady threw away my sim card from-and I'm still trying to get a way to get her pics off it. Ive some great shots of her on that phone

The tiger-stripe had never been in a car till I took her-and the older kitten home last week. The older kitten panicked and wouldn't stop screeching, the younger-never said a meow. I tried soothing the older during the trip-played easy-listening instrumental music-which helped some. Arrived home-showed them off to my neighbor-they were still in the pet taxi--but started loudly screeching again.

I thought it best to get them inside and used to the place asap--but didn't let them out till I had their food and water ready, then let them out. The older kitten, ran and hid-meowed a few times, then remained silent the rest of her stay. the other, stayed near the litter box--and only, but loudly meowed when I sat in my easy chair to watch an hour or so of TV (hoping they both would venture in there) and then would loudly meow when I went to bed. The tiger-stripe did this only two nights-then did a 180-completely trusted me, and has been a cute tornado ever since. :) I woke up at 5 this morning and discovered she had shredded her first complete roll of toilet-paper. :o:D

For a tiny-less then 1 pound critter, boy can this little lady pack away the groceries. Ill bet when she is full-grown-that she will weigh about 15 pounds. Shasta weighed around 11-12 at her heaviest-and she could pack away the groceries as well.

This reminds me--I need more tennis balls and golf balls. This kitty lost the only golf ball I had-and I had to replace Shasta's tennis balls because she shredded them.

I have a cat-hotel-which is carpeted inside and out-has something hanging front its roof to play with-drives this kitten nuts-cant get enough and wears her out. I guess its a good thing, because that allows me to go to bed at night too. :D

Today seems to be the start of her jumping phase-she is jumping everywhere-and clawing as well. My shins are sore-as well as my feet. Lisa warned my this kitten was a talker-and boy she sure is a talker. I wake up in the morning-and she starts yakking about something-which cant be needing food or water-as her dishes are always filled. I take a shower-and sometimes she says something_ I meow back-but rarely get a reply.

I guess it's a good thing I ended up with only one-this one is going to be a hand full.:D

Heh heh, ill be home bout 6, and mine'll be hungry and mewing and then racing for my feet. I gotta get thicker socks and soon! :D I think ill also try to get her to watch some tv tonight as well, I have one more 5th season Daniel Boone episode to watch-then its finished-then I need to get the 6th and final season-watch it-then send them all to you at the same time. I have the next two days off-and I need to rest Thursday--I'm worn out. These early 6es have me worn out.

I'm about to head home from Barnes and Nobles-waiting to see what the Tiger-stripe has in store for me when I step in the front door? I meant to clean out her litter box before I left on errands, but forgot and also forgot to put a bit more food into her bowl. So? issue in doubt as to whether I will be here on line tomorrow or not?:eek::confused::D

I find that cats can be upset when there alone in a new place. To get them on board I feed them tuna in water from the can. They seem to settle down quickly. I had two kittens where the female was upset. I fed them tuna and I could imagine the male telling his sister to shut up and eat. She wouldn't stop crying. Finally she did. I found these two while going fishing someone dumped them. They poked their little heads out of a pile of leaves. We use the larger dry food dispenser. Plus wet food in the morning and evenings. My three big black cats( tamed feral) help themselves to the dry food. They don't care what they eat. My other four cats can be fussy at times. Some of my adopted kittens were a day from death. Tuna is the trick to getting them to settle down. I have one cat that's shy and skiddish. I can't pet him much but the misses can hold him. I can't. He's a loner but I have his brother too. Their all a different personality just like people.

Funny everytime a new kitten comes in the house my yellow lab rolls his eyes and says here comes more. He's so laid back. The cats love him

I have one of the three brothers for two months now when he's in the house he sleeps with his head on my shoulder or arm. It's weird. He must sense something. He's there at night or daytime with me. Otherwise he's outside.

Bill, it sounds as if you have the procedure for making new cats feel at home down to a science. Good for you.

I would wish there were more people like you in the world. I know you will be rewarded for your humane actions...if not in this world, then most certainly in the next.

Carl:

I am so happy that you finally have your new kitty!! I know that up here at the cabin that Bella and our newest, Lucky, are a real joy. I know that we will all have lots of advice for you, pet lovers can't help themselves. I guess we like to share experience the same way that we do with our firearms lore.

I'm sure that we all are wishing you the best with the little one.

Lucky has been here with me now for almost 4 weeks, and he is a great companion for both me and Bella. I'll see if I can find a recent picture of both of them. Bella showed up here as a little lost kitten herself a year ago in September, and was on,y 4 or 5 weeks old when she started meowing outside my cabin door.

Folks wanted to know why I call her Bella....the answer is simple: "Because that was her name!!". I think you will know what your kitty's name is soon.

Well I too am happy for both you and your new pal. How about SANDY or SANDIE for her name? Just a thought Anyway I can't wait to see her pics but I can close my eyes and visualize some of what you find every morning when you wake up.

May your friendship be great fun and high adventure for you both and may it be decades long.

I like that!!! I like Sandy!!! Nice name. Sounds like it might match her "sandstone" colored coat.

Carl... I don't know what kind of cell phone you have, but if you can take pics on it and text them, I would be happy to post them for you. PM me, and I can give you my cell number. Just a thought.

Best Regards, Les

I find what you say to be totally true on all front-both cats were-are so. The older just happened to come from a noisier-busier home and missed that-which was what Lisa and I figured out was what happened. My place-me being alone ant not much activity or noise outside tv-phone--just not her cup of tea.

The tiger-stripe seems to like quiet-and gives her a chance to catch up on much needed sleep after her tornado rampage through the entire apartment. :D Every-time I come in, I catch her coming out of her hotel-but also see more shredded paper on the floor-and an occasional single sock lying about.:D

I forgot to mention, I "broke the ice" by opening a can of kitten fancy feast. The older kitten didn't touch it, the younger dove into it like a seagull diving on fish at sea.
