One of My Favorite Actors: Vincent Price

I've probably seen all but a very few of Vincent Price's movies over the last sixty years. Not really a favorite of mine, but most of the films were worth watching, once anyway.

Price's role in "His Kind of Woman" may have been a bit out of character for him, but it was nevertheless a pretty good film. Hard to go wrong with any movie Robert Mitchum was in.

I had the privilege to see Vincent Price on stage in the early 1960's at Emens Auditorium Ball State Teachers College (later University). My mother was the lead secretary for the Physical Plant, and had access to all buildings, activities, etc. She actually got me into the sound booth above the audience and I had a perfect view! Granted, I was 11yr old at the time but WOW!

This was a time in my life that I lived for all of the Friday and Saturday night "Fright Nite" midnight movies on TV! :D

I though his
''Dr. Phibes'' movies were his better works

Apparently Vincent Price and his co-star Robert Quarry did not get along too well. Quarry was singing on set one day and remarked to Price “You didn’t know I could sing, did you Vincent?”. Price replied “Well Bob, I know you sure as hell can’t act”.

Quarry was the star of “Count Yorga” movies, produced by the same company as “Dr. Phibes”, AIP. They intended to make a “Dr.Phibes vs Count Yorga” movie, but Price and Quarry did not care to work together again, at least not for what AIP was willing to pay.

Having seen both “Count Yorga” movies I am inclined to agree with Vincent Price’s point of view.

His role as the villain in "House of Wax," one of the first 3D movies in 1953, was unforgettable to me as a young teen. Really scary with the 3D effect that made objects appear to jump out of the screen!
