Well, I am glad I swapped the black MOE gear for foilage green, as it gave me a chance to upgrade the MBUIS to a gen2 unit. That gave me an additional bit of clearance so my scope and mount choices just opened up a bit.

I've narrowed it down to 2 different types, illuminated and not.
For illuminated...
Leupold VX-R ($439)
Burris TAC30 ($300)
Leatherwood CMR ($300)

For non-illuminated
Nikon M-223 ($250)
Leupold VX-3 or MK AR ($300 ish)

I have a Millett DMS-1 on my VTAC, but, I am not excited about illuminated optics with variable power. Honestly, I've never needed it.

I think I will be going with a either factory mounts or a LaRue SPR/SPR-E (with the 1.5" height) when funding gets approved.

Thoughts on the Nikon M-223 or the Leupold Mark AR?

Well what ever you decide be sure! The money your investing is not small. There are enough knowledgable people who know their optics to help you.

Before you buy, be sure and check out a Burris AR-332. I have one on my M&P MOE.
Great optics and gives you a choice of Black, Red or Green in various intensities. The Black will work without batteries and comes with a mount. The only change I made to mine was to get the QD mount from Burris.

I'm really torn between the Leatherwood CMR and the Nikon at this point.

I think the zero stops on the Leatherwood are a really nice feature, and the reticle is much nicer. But, the Nikon is simpler and cheaper... can't go wrong with a Nikon.

I have a few days to decide... I'll let everyone know once money changes hands. ;)

So which optic did you get? I've been looking at some of the same scopes. Nikon P223, M223 and leupold mark ar. I'm thinking 3-9x but may go 4-12x if I go with 4-12 then P223 is out. So I'm still deciding and comparing.

i got the p223. i love it so far. i have alot of nikons and leupolds, i think i like the nikons better, and for the money you can not beat the p223

It seems like the only difference I'm finding between the P223 and M223 is the light transmission P series is 90% and M series 95%. So is 5% worth twice the price? Some reviews say yes.

Which mount did you end up with? I see the M mount offers a 20 MOA pitch on it where the P mount and the Burris PERP mounts are 0 MOA. I am not sure what the advantage of the 20 MOA is so if someone knows please share.

According to what I have been told, the 20moa pitch will let you sight in for longer distances. Where my scopes already compensate for distance I dont find it necessary to have. I started seeing the pitch stuff when Looking for a rail for my 10-22.

So at 300 yards Would i need the 20 MOA? I want the PERP mount with quick detach.
