Who here trades stocks via the internet? It is something I've been considering for a while now but never took the plunge. I'm thinking about investing my tax refund this year.

What online broker do you like to use?

Thanks,
Mr JT

I have a friend in Ohio that sends me stocks and I send him presentation cases. We've done online {stocks] trading for a couple years now. I've gotten some really nice K & N stocks from his investment reserves. Periodically we talk on the phone and go over our portfolios.

I feel like Sipowicz :)

I have a account with ameritrade. The only thing I bought through them has been S&W! That still is a disaster.

You know you're an unredeemable gun nut when you see the thread title and the first thing you think of is gee, I have a Mossberg 500 stock that I'd like to trade for some K frame grips...

I have used Scottrade for many years and I am very satisfied with their trading platform. They have always been there when I had a question and they offer free training at their offices and online training as well.

I have no touchstone for comparison, but have been happy with Scottrade.

Do you make your own decisions, or do you want the advice of a full-service brokerage? If the former, I recommend Vanguard. Besides being a very good online service with a solid history, they have their own funds that you can buy and sell for little or no fee/commission.

Vanguard, and a book called "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" are all you need to become a pretty proficient investor.

I use Scottrade. They are a no nonsense firm. Can't beat the $7 per trade fee. Also they have great customer service. If you are a novice to the investing world they have great tutorials.

Good Luck.

I'm a trade bum. Scottrade.

There has been fantastic opportunity with volatility the past couple years. Good luck.

Charles Schwab. Try the Schwab One account. Fees are low (but not as low as Scotttrade), and has some nice tools if you decide to trade options. Good luck.

I use Schwab. One of their advantages for me is they have a local office, so I can stop in and talk to someone if I need to.

I used to use ETrade, but switched last year. There is actually 2 companies named Etrade (ETrade Securities and ETrade Financial??), and one of them was/is on the brink of bankruptcy. One or both (not sure which) took TARP money.

Fidelity has offices in many cities. You can set up most any type of account. You can manage your account on-line, including purchasing and selling stock at a reasonable price.
