Actually, the police are only ADVISING that wire mesh not be used because of the potential for a lawsuit. Fact is that similar lawsuits have been brought against property owners here in the US and the only way to put a stop to this stupidity is by putting a provision into the law that Criminals bear ALL responsibility for any harm they do to themselves as a result of their criminal activities.

they do not have a country. why would anyone want to live there? to think that the uk may be the closest in terms of govt to our own, it's interesting to note that they couldn't be on further opposite ends in regards to personal freedoms. they are prisoners over there. what a bunch of lambs. normally I would welcome those less fortunate to our great nation but I would have to make an exception to these "laydowns". they are nothing but pathetic losers to allow all that oppression to occur.

That's an awfully broad brush you're painting with.

FWIW, I have very good friends who are former UK army officers, and I have no doubt they would roll their eyes just as energetically as we do at ridiculous stories like this one.

anytime you paint a broad brush like you say you can never include every single solid individual. because truth is there are honorable men in every fallen nation/cause. still they have nothing now and they(the subjected citizenry) will never do anything about it. so that pretty much negates anything your friends may accomplish. I don't doubt they are probably brave men willing to die for a cause but unfortunately they need to leave the uk if they have not already because there is nothing worth dying for in regards to that country. again nothing against your friends but they need to recognize a lost cause.

but you can show one side of the story for effect to sell more papers - which is something a lot of our right wing press tend to be guilty of especially the Daily Mail - which it has a reputation for, which unfortunately gives the law abiding the wrong impression that the law is too far balanced in favour of criminals.

The ones that shout the loudest are the self-loathing (and loathe America) left who are in a very small minority. Problem is, those with alternative views tend to be very quiet which harms their cause some and gives the wrong impression to other countries...

as I said in my 2nd post I don't have a problem with british citizens, it's the country as a whole that seems to get under my skin.

I think in this day and time we seriously need to consider new alliances. with the cold war over I am surprised we have not done more to develop a relationship with russia, both militarily and economically. I know the experts will have their views. would love to hear them.

also in light of the above isn't it about time we begin the process of dismantling the UN? what is the purpose of it these days? with communication and transportation systems that we have now why do we need it? world powers don't need it and small forces like iran will never abide by any mandates so whats the point? seems more of a political machine to me.

As I get older I realize I can no longer go toe to toe with a younger person who might enter my home with evil intent. Gone are the days when a baseball bat would be all I needed. I need an edge and that is my S&W (or 870). People w/o access to firearms are at a disadvantage and vulnerable to these criminals. And the criminals are well aware of this. I feel sorry for any person, in the US or elsewhere, who has to live in fear for not just their property but their very lives and have no means of self defense.

A few years ago, there was a story on "Cold Case Files" with Bill Curtis about a guy and his wife who heard somebody in their house one night. The husband picked up a baseball bat and went to see what was happening.

After stabbing the husband to death, the intruder raped the wife and set the house on fire. For a while, the police treated the WIFE as the primary suspect. After about ten years, the real killer was found and prosecuted. The wife says she wishes she'd died in the fire.

I've NEVER had ANY confidence in a baseball bat as a home defense weapon. The above tale didn't exactly change my opinion.
