Only one Smith semi?

Only one? Shield 9 with no manual safety. It seems to be more useful in that it can be comfortably carried all the time. And, they seem to have finally gotten all the bugs out.

The PC 4006 is one of my holy grail guns. What was the number made?

I remember one year at NPSC, the Perfomance Center was there and had some of their pistols for display and shooting. I picked up a Tactical .40. Mr. Ray said to me, "You don't want that." I remember thinking, "Why, yes, I do.".

There were 12 made, 3 went to Lew Horton and a S&W factory letter verified that mine was one of the 3. Where the other 8 went is unknown and I've yet to see another one turn up.

It has a PCZ serial number prefix which I understand is used for PC prototypes.

A very difficult question indeed. I have several, but just for grins, let's assume they are all equal in value, and if that's the case I'm keeping my 4506 no dash. I get more pleasure from shooting this "tank" than any of the others. It makes me feel like I'm an expert!

Have to check mine is Serial #DPA 00xx......love the decocker only...... but a heavy piece of steel.............

Is that a Seiko Automatic Divers, I see? If so great taste in guns and watches....... one has been my EDWear since 1989!

It's my old submariner. I got disgusted with it when it broke for the third time so I bought a sea master.

Should have noticed the stem a 3 oclock not 4 like the Seiko................

I went the Seiko route...too much Scottish blood in me to justify a Rolex and weekend hard knocks... in 89 they were $200 and it was GTG for 22 years without any issues ..... then I noticed it losing time; about 4 minutes a month......( it had been w/in 2 minutes a month /6sec a day) So I got another......msrp now about $500 but can still buy them for about $200.

Still kick myself sometimes for not getting a Rolex in the early 80s....... about $500 IIRC.

That one is easy. My CS 45, bought it new, and have carried it for over 25 years.

Yep, $550.00 for mine. That was a lot of money then.

39-2. Have owned 2, currently don't have one, but don't own any other S&W Semis, either. I was spoiled. Made the mistake of selling the first, which had been accurized by someone who knew his stuff, to get a 469 when they were introduced. Never shot it as well and bought a stock 39-2 which I carried until my department removed the Gen 1 S&Ws from the approved list just before I pulled the pin.

It was a source of comfort and joy.

I've got a few,and choosing just one from the bunch would be difficult for certain. But, since that is what this thread is about, from this list :
SW9VE
3913TSW
4053TSW
4516-2
4506
Of the guns listed,I shoot the 4053TSW & 4516-2 the absolute best, with the 4516-2 taking the slight edge. So , there you have it. If I had to choose just one, it would be the 4516-2

My 4566 would be a close second choice. It's a sweet piece.

Both my Seiko 007 diver and my Orient Ray diver have been great watches. I love Rolex, but I'm not paying their prices when the Japanese build movements that are as/more accurate.
You should have sent your Seiko to their New Jersey(?) facility to be serviced. Mechanical watch movements require periodic service. Seikos tend to go a couple of decades, or so, before they need it.
If you still have the old one, you could still send it in to be serviced.

So far, my Russian Vostok Amfibia has been great, too.

A Model 41 is on my to-buy list for the future but for now, my only choice for a semi-auto centerfire is a 1911. They are to handguns what the small-block Chevrolet is to V8 engines and the Remington Model 700 is to rifles. Parts for them, both original and custom, are available from numerous sources and they are easy to work on for the average guy. And my choice for 1911 and handgun in general manufacturer is Smith & Wesson.

Since that photo was taken, I've added another PC 1911, this one in .38 Super.

Maybe I've just been lucky but I've never had a malfunction with any of my S&W 1911s.

My 41 is my keeper.

I'm about to pull the pin on purchasing a 1911 Performance Center so if I can only keep one what will I do? Perhaps I should buy a Dan Wesson instead? bob
