I just realized I joined over 5 years ago and never posted in this forum. I think I have maybe 12 posts total... I have thousands on woodworking forums though. Does that count?
Hi. My name is Gary. I used to be a jock, but 6 orthopedic surgeries over the years put a stop to that. My ex-wife would tell you that I became less of a meathead then.
My first obsession outside of my son and my dogs was woodworking. I design and build furniture. I turn a lot (that's a never-ending black hole). I've sold some pieces. That will be my semi-retirement job. I'd like to improve so I can show in art fairs. I like restoring old hand tools. Drills, braces, chisels, planes, saws etc. I've restored old power tools, but just did that because I got them cheap and liked how durable North American powertools used to be.
For this site, I probably have an average number of guns. My first purchase was a Ruger (I still like them just fine). But then, I discovered pre hole Smiths. My oldest dates to 1955, but most are 60s-90s.
I am also an unapologetic Sig fan boi. I come by it honestly. My Dad had some loot from WWII. I learned to shoot on a Luger, a Mauser and an M1. And then my Uncle let me shoot his Colt DS. Ooh, revolvers are cool.
I got married in the 80s (thank God that's over) and moved to St. Louis. My Dad gave me a combination wedding and moving gift- a Sig P228. I've enjoyed shooting it for 32 years and have accumulated a couple more.
I have more Smiths than anything else. I'd tell you how many I have, but most of them were lost in a tragic boating accident.
