I was at the N. Decatur Ave. DMV this morning to renew my
driver license. I was inside the building in the first line for the
information counter. While I was in the middle of the long
zig zag line I noticed a young man in his mid-20's behind me
in the next parallel line with a semi-auto pistol strapped to
his right hip. I was surprised to see this as I thought you
couldn't open or conceal carry at the DMV; at least that was
true 4 years ago when I last renewed my driver's license. I
didn't see any signs posted prohibiting firearms inside the
building. There was an armed security guard walking around
the place. Any body have a similar experience?

My understanding is you can open carry but not conceal carry at the NV DMV. That's what I've been told by some people here who take the laws and their rights very seriously. I believe they're pretty up to date on it. It comes up on the local gun forum every so often.

The CCW Rules, clearly state that you cannot conceal carry in any government facility. It does not address open carry, which you can do anywhere, in the state of Nevada, unless posted otherwise!

Most Nevadan's don't feel the need to open carry but......

it is a nice feature of the State.

CC's are around 2-3 weeks waiting time now........... but good for 5 years.
