A buddy and I make an annual trip to Central Kansas to meet up with a bunch of other guys for the opening weekend hunt. It turned out to be a heck of a lot better than last year and we killed a whole bunch of Pheasants, a few quail, and about seven turkeys. We walked for miles and miles from dawn till dusk, and the sole came off one of my hunting boots, good thing we had some duct tape, and I think I will go bed early tonight.

Good friends, dogs, shotguns, and lots of birds....it doesn't get any better than that!

or it didn't happen.

I really miss it but, age and a bad leg doesn't allow it. I am happy to hear that there are some birds again. Bird hunting with a good dog can't be beat.

If you put me in a draw full of fire weeds you would have to come get me and carry me back to the truck.

I consoled myself by spending the week end at Tulsa trying to get through the whole show.

It was written up in our local fishwrap that it looked as though it was going to be a good year for pheasant hunting (and good for the businesses that rely on pheasant hunting/hunters for much of their yearly income), sounds as though the predictions were true.
