Optic/mount for 6904

Checking to see what options (if any) are available to mount an optic on a 6904? Mill slide, ect.

There are mounts that go in the rear sight channel as well, but they add a reasonable height to the setup, and i dont find them to be the best solution

Im having my 459 milled for 1911 plates. This lowers the height of the setup considerably vs the rear sight mounts. You can theoretically go deeper than the height of the ejector plunger channel, but i feel going to that depth is sufficient and makes retaining the spring and plunger much simpler

I bought a spare upper for my 4006tsw to mill so I can keep the original CHIPS pistol stock. Haven’t sent it off yet, waiting to test out the spare slide and get my 407k back from Holosun under warranty.

Does this mount into the rear sight channel, or does it require machining??

It appears to bolt to an insert that goes into the rear sight slot. The downsides are height and loss of iron sights. I think the dovetail mount I tried on an M&P 1.0 was by MGW and while it worked, wasn't the way to go-unless all you want is a range toy.

Thanks, that's the conclusion I came to when looking into this further.

As for usefulness, I'm sure there are other acceptable missions one can use it for aside from a range toy, an example would be home defense.

Whether installed high, as in this case, or using a proper - milled slide installation, I'm concerned that the "shake awake" feature would ultimately drain the battery through normal use/carry (the body does move a fair amount in every day functions), so trying this out with the rear sight removed is a way to test things before butchering a nice smith by milling the slide.

I bought my stuff from Aristocrat . Here is a photo on my 3914 shoots great. Uses existing dovetail. Everything worked great. Maybe not quite as low a profile as some but not bad.

Is that mount specific to the M39xx family, or is that for the M59xx line or is it just generic for the Third Gen models??
I just bought one of the Riton mounts for the M59xx line and think I'll put it on a spare top end I have for the M3953....
