I was about to order a Bushnell TRS-25 for my M&P15OR, but I came across the Sightmark Ultra Shot QD digital switch reflex sight. They are close in price, and I like the looks of the Sightmark. I have a TRS-25 on my M&P15-22 and really like it. What do you think of the Sightmark, i.e., quality, reputation, price? Thanks!

Cabelas has the Vortex Strikefire II on sale right now. I have heard a lot of good things about them. I love my Crossfire II. Can't beat their warranty.

Hi js-paddle07!

If I haven't said it before, welcome aboard! The budget optic question comes up often here. You'll get many opinions. There is web article series that I always refer members to so that they can make an informed choice.

?Budget? Red Dot Sight Comparison ? Part 1 | The Bang Switch

?Budget? Red Dot Sight Comparison ? Part 2 | The Bang Switch

Now for my opinion. Of the budget red-dots, Primary Arms offers the best quality for price. I have owned a Primary Arms 30mm Classic. I've shot a friend's rifle equipped with a Primary Arms microdot w/QD mount bundle. Go with a Primary Arms, and you'll be happy.

Vortex StrikeFire II. Best Chinese red dot out there. Really is a decent red dot. And neat thing is you can put Butler Creek Scope caps on it for decent pop up's that don't break or fail.
2nd: Buchnell TRS-25, or Primary Arms
For import optics, these 3 are hard to fault.

I think you have your answer already. Choosing an optic because you "like the way it looks" is not a good way to select an optic.

Yeah but the multi-colored spinning reticle tactical kaleidoscope looks so cool dude. :D

I also like the one with the the tactical 45-degree offset rails on the exterior of the optic housing so that I can mount an even closer distance RMR or similar.

You guys are on one tonight. :D How about a scope with railed rings. You could put a red dot on one side, a micro reflex on the other, and a laser on top.

If the Bushnell is something you like, go with it.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

I have one better... it's a scope with three tactical-cool rails!

It's the original Primary Arms dime store compact 4x scope. They would sell out the same day they arrived in inventory. The rails are the only thing I don't like about it. I think PA heard enough boos and hisses about those stupid rails that when it came time for them to design their own Chinese labor camp otic they did away with them.

Without Phil's video of the Primary Arms Micro, I would have fought hard to get you not to buy it. However, he's convinced me that it's not bad considering it's an $80 optic.

I've said it before, I'll say it again and I'll keep saying it, trying to save money on optics only leads to disappointment. I keep hearing how guys love their $50-$250 el cheapo scopes. Most of the time I learn that those who are happy with the cheap scopes are not concerned with precision or durability. They are happy with +/-2MOA, always keep their guns/optics in big foam cases and only shoot when the sun is shining and wind calm.

The big question for me is, if you're happy with the Bushnell TRS-25, why switch? The Sightmark offers nothing new and is an unknown. If you're happy with the thing you already have, stick with it.

I'm going to train a Capuchin monkey to hold onto the top rail with it's feet and prehensile tail and to grip a laser pointer in it's paws. I think if I keep both eyes open, the monkey will "ghost" away as if it weren't there.

It's not my idea. The Russians have been trying to train monkey sights for years.

Heck if I'm going to sit back and let some red commies beat us to it.

Decision made. In a choice between 3-9x40 Variables. Nikon Prostaff, Bushnell Banner and variations, I picked a wildcard choice Leupold Rifleman. It has the best eye relief and I have 20+ years of experience with a Leupold. Leupold Optics Rifleman 3-9x40mm - | Leupold Optics I will mount it today and take it to the range Monday. It has the Rifleman Ballistic Reticle. It was the most expensive of the three scopes but Academy marked it down to $163. I will see if it gets along with the P-223 mounts from Nikon. Geoff Who is taking some range time off.

I think it's garbage, substandard quality, and terrible reputation......and not worth it even for $20
