Guys,
What would be good optics for my M&P 15OR. I plan to use this for coyotes both day and night. Shot distance where I hunt would be 100 yards or less. I would also like quick target acquisition from a home defense perspective. Maybe the two things are not compatible. Also any recommendations on light setup that can be used for both things as well. Thanks up front for the suggestions. I just signed up. Been reading here for awhile. Oh yea. I would hope less than $250.
Thanks,

Me, I use an Aimpoint M2 for HD, I used to qualify with the same set up on my duty rifle and had no problem making head shots at 100 yards (well within Coyote kill zone).
As to the light I went with a Surefire M500 TacLight, it replaces the whole fore end and will light up a lot of territory.

I have Aimpoint M2's, H1, T1, and the Patrol Optic.

They are all good but the biggest bang for the buck is the Pro and its 2MOA dot. $400. Buy once cry once OP.

I have Surefire white lights but they change so quick I can't remember what I last upgraded to.

I sure hate the references that say buy whatever cry whatever. With a great light and a good 3x9 scope you should be good to cover whatever ground you are wanting to. Where I live alternate light sources are illegal so I really cant help you, sorry

I just put a Leupold vx-r patrol 1.25-4 on my VTACII. It works like a red dot w/both eyes open up close and you can crank it up to 4x for longer shots. It's not real cheap but it's a quality optic. The vx-r 1.25x4 zombie is also an awesome scope.

pick a scope (I used a simmons wtc from midway, pic's on my 15-22 ) and a w/ burris pepr mount w/ top rails.. use rails on top of scope rings for primary arms red/green dot. (not shown but you can see the rails) under $300 for my setup w/ coupons slightly overkill but still under your price range. heh

Trijicon TR24...You'll be well set for both uses. A forward mount will be needed (LaRue would be the one to get). BTW, a great setup doesn't come cheap. :(

Magnetik - does the primary arms red dot get in the way of the simmons scope adjustment knobs? Or does it just mount to first ring rail?

I appreciate the suggestions all.
Thank you.

no but the WTC doesn't have exposed turrets so they are kind of a pain regardless. Here's what it would basically look like..(not my pic) it's a picture of a fastfire but the pa is similar enough in size. I like it because I don't have to switch optics at 25 and 50, 100+ yards. Long range and cqb in one.

I run a 6-24x50 and a 4.5-20x50. I am able to shoot up close very very well. Like shoot a fly off of a post but I am also able to reach way out there and shoot a target or varmint at quite longer distances. I have been looking at putting a red dot on top of my Scope mounts but with the craziness going on I think I will wait.
