I just ordered the 811033 Model M&P 15-22 today (and my Springfield XD-9SC), from my local gun shop. This one has the Flash Supressor and 25-rnd Mag.

I'm looking to add the following:

- Bipod (Looking at the Caldwell 6"-9" Pivot model at Academy Sports.)
- Scope (My wife has a Simmons 3-9x40 on her Marlin 795, and I'll probably go with that one too. I don't know jack about scopes.)
- Extra Mags

I've looked around the Forum via the "SEARCH", and can't really find what I'm looking for, so I'll ask you folks here.

With regards to the above accessories I'm looking for:

1. Would the Caldwell Bipod do the trick? I don't need to spend too much on a Bipod like a Harris, just something to use to plink away at targets.

2. Trying to stay in the $50'ish $$$ Range, is the Simmons a sufficient and reliable scope? I'd like to plink away at 100 yards and closer.

3. The best price I've found for Extra Mags, was at RRAGES.com, at $25 Shipped. Is this a source you folks use? Are there others that I need to check out as well?

Thanks for any info you can provide! I just joined yesterday, so I'm still getting my feet wet here.

Cheers!

I just ordered my mags from Midway. Not a crazy deal, but I had the order coming anyway so it worked out.

heres the bipods i'm looking at, these look a little more well built than most. haven't bought either so i can't say personally.

Amazon.com: UTG Tactical OP Bipod - Tactical/Sniper Profile Adjustable Height: Sports & Outdoors
Amazon.com: TMS AR15 Bipod with Sling Adapter: Sports & Outdoors

midwayusa.com usually has good prices on the magazines too with super fast service.

as for riflescopes...that gets relatively complicated. this is not my list, but is generally considered about right. best from top to bottom. if you want to go cheap, you'll probably be looking at the bottom 5 categories.

Leica ER, Swarovski Z6, Zeiss Victory

Kahles C - CL & CSX, Premier Reticle, Schmidt & Bender

Kahles KX, U.S. Optics, Swarovski PH & American Lightweight

Bushnell Elite 4200, Leupold VX-3, Nikon Monarch & Monarch X, Zeiss Conquest

Leupold Mark 4 VX III & VX-L, Meopta, Nikon Monarch Gold & Titanium, Sightron SIII & S2 Big Sky, Vortex Viper

Burris Black Diamond Signature Select XTR & Euro Diamond, Pentax Lightseeker, Trijicon Accupoint, Weaver Grand Slam

Bushnell Elite 3200, Leupold VX-II, Millet Tactical/Buck Gold, Nikko Stirling, Nikon Buckmaster, Sightron SI & SII, Vortex Crossfire & Diamondback, Super Sniper Fixed

Burris Fullfield II & Timberline, Leupold Rifleman & VX-I, Leatherwood, Mueller, Nikon ProStaff, Simmons

Barska, Sightmark, Swift, Truglo

BSA, Tasco, Yukon

ATN, Leapers, NcStar

in terms of "best value" for $170 this is easily the best deal right now in the scope industry. $170 seems like a ton to most especially on a $400 gun, but the norm in optics is usually to spend equal the amount of your gun on the optic. now here that probably doesn't apply because these are just toys for most people. but relatively speaking, it is not much. check where viper falls in the list compared to most of the others, simmons, ncstar etc. this scope generally hangs with the $300+ boys. and remember 2-7 magnification on a quality scope is always going to outperform 3-9 magnification on a crappy scope.

Primary Arms just came out with their 3-9x scope for $80. It's a 30mm tube to get more light through the body and has mil-dot reticle. I'd be inclined to go with them just for their outstanding customer service.

Another one I've been looking at is the BSA Sweet 22. It's a 3-9 with adjustable objective and it comes with replaceable elevation turrets that allows you to dial in a range to compensate for bullet drop. There's one on Sportsmans Guide that's on clearance from $170 to $45.

I was at Gander mtn. the other day and I noticed that they had 15-22 magazines for about $19 I think. So if you have that store around you I'd go there and just buy them instead of ordering them.

Look at the Mueller APT. It's a good 4.5-15x40 scope with target turrets that won't break the bank, and it's a good fit for a rimfire rifle.

Thanks Folks!

I appreciate the feedback! Last night, I had found and ordered 3 Mags from GT Distribution, which is about 45 miles from me, in Austin. Their Mag prices were $16.95. I'll go with 44Mag on my next re-load.

Today, I ordered the UTG Tactical OP Bipod - Tactical/Sniper Profile Adjustable Height, from Amazon, which Grimreaper21 suggested above. I went with this Bipod, because it had an adjustable height from 8"-13", which is what I was looking for. My wife's Caldwell on her Marlin 795, is a 6"-9", and it's too short for me. She's 5'2", and I'm 6'1".

Next, I'm going to go with a Simmons Prosport 3-9x40 Scope with the Truplex reticle. It's an upgrade from my wife's scope, and just went on sale today at Academy Sports for $49. They also had a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40, that was on sale for $149, but I didn't need to spend that much for Target Range plinking. I think the Simmons will do me just fine. I can use the $100 I saved for Ammo!

Finally, on my Amazon shopping spree, I added a UTG Ambi Foldable Tactical Foregrip with 5 Adjustable Positions. Figured I could use it when I need it, since it will fold up out of the way.

Well, I've got the rifle ordered, gear ordered, and I have over 1K rounds of 22LR sitting on the shelf, waiting for something to load it into.

CAN'T WAIT!!!

Thanks again Folks, for your insight and suggestions!

Cheers!

glad to have helped! i'd love to see pics and more info when you get the bipod mounted

Will do! It'll probably be a couple of weeks, while I wait on the rifle and gear, but I'll get it all together and get some pics posted as soon as I do. I like pics! I feel like a kid at Christmas! Oh wait... it is Christmas, and I'm still a kid at Heart!

That's interesting. I just bought an Elite 6500 2.5-16 42 the other day for a new Rem 700 SPS AAC-SD. UPS should be delivering it here any minute. I kinda doubt that it's in the same league as the NF NXS that my buddy just paid near $1500 two weeks ago, but that list will be fun to show him next time we go shooting. Yeah... I like that list:D

you'd be suprised, ive heard things like the 6500 having a better eye box thus field of view, glass quality is about on par with eachother, but I think the nightforce costs more due to its other features and manufacturing tolerances. you guys should take them out and compare side by side.
