I know this Sheriff extreamly well, and use to live in the county (Linn) he now serves. He is the second Oregon Sheriff to come out and take a stand. On a side note, residents of the county voted 60% Republican and has always placed the Democrat's in the minority. Obama never had a chance in this Oregon County.
The other Sheriff is from Jackson County and is in the Southern most part of the state. He also refused to disclose the CCW permit holders to the Medford Mail Tribune, and they have filed court paperwork to get the names. Litigation continues. Another case involves a Medford female teacher who has a permit and packed her weapon to her school. She was involved in a divorce proceding and the male half made threats against her, thus the purchase of a Glock on her part. The school district told her no way and the fight was on. Jackson County courts said the school district can prohibit employees from carry while on school grounds.
I believe many Sheriffs & Chiefs nationwide will come out and tell the those who occupy the "puzzle palace" in D.C. to take a hike on the new gun related legislation.
