Anyone here shooting them? I ran into a friend and was telling him I was going to order the MBC Match 158 LSWC 38's and He said just to run down to Cabelas and get some Oregon Trails. Looks like they run 20$ more per 500. Anyone using them and thoughts.

The OT bullet is hard enough to be used at high speed 357 Magnum loads if needed.
They also did well for me at 38 practice speeds with the normal powders.

Good shooting.

They work for me in light 38 target loads all the way up to mid range 357. Cabela's puts them on sale from time to time so that helps with the cost.

why not get the MBC Coated bullets.??

But to answer your question I have used (still have) the OT for my 30-30.(Marlin Micro Groove) Their bullets are very hard alloy, around 24 BHN last I checked

OT just too expensive for what they are. Nothing wrong with it, but you are far better off shopping from a vendor that has case quantities of over 2k they will ship in a flat rate box. Right now about $75 per K from Precision but there are quite a few coated bullet folks out there,

I have used hundreds maybe thousands in every handgun I load for. Excellent quality bullets..

When I was shooting USPSA, used nothing but the 250gr RNFP in both my 45ACPs. With Clays as powder, made for a nice soft 180PF load. At that time, Oregon trail was just entering the market.

I use OT bullets in place of jacketed for magnum rounds. I shoot them in revolvers and carbines of the same caliber. I get no leading in carbines at 1600 to 1800 fps. The SWC style cuts clean holes and the RNFP feed perfectly in lever guns. I don't bother with target rounds, as a rule. I practice shooting close to what I carry. I'm even using them for .45 ACP. The feed well, don't lead, and cost much less than FMJ or Jacketed HP bullets.

I've heard they work in Glocks and H&K too, which have polygonal rifling. I can't say because I don't own one.

If you just happen to be close by (about 5 hour drive for me) you can stop by and save on shipping. They also run specials buy 4 boxes and get the 5th free. A circle of friends always call around if we know we will be passing by. Your reward for picking up a friends order----they save on freight and you get the free box or boxes. :)

I have used a number of them and have been satisfied. They are really on the hard side and like others have said are a little spendy. I have used more of their .45 cal. rifle bullets in my .45/70 Marlin guide gun than anything else.

They are a fantastic bullet and probably the best accuracy I have ever experience out of my Colt 1911 was with the LC 200 gr SWC - However I have since decided for general shooting I can get by with less expensive and nearly (or as good) accuracy with other, less expensive brands such as Berry's or HSM.

Oregon Trail laser cast lead silver bullets

Oregon Trail laser cast lead silver bullets
now has lower prices with the free shipping
incorporated within their price.

The price is better than most retail stores.

I like them for the low cost, constant weight,
diameter, and appearance.

For lead free barrel performance I use the
simple low tech tumble lube operation with
Ben's Liquid Lube.
