O'Reilly tonight

Are you just being sarcastic again, or did this really happen? Details?

He did. It was about that sportscaster going off about gun control on that football player running amuk.
 
I have heard some iffy stuff out of him in the past but he did sound well informed tonight. He is clearly not a gun enthusiest but sounds like he's beginning to get it.
 
Wow! I just watched hannity and two guys got into it big time argueing gun control. It was the biggest out of control fight I have ever seen on hannity. There is just no talking to guys like that. Some of you must have just seen it too. If you didnt watch the next showing of it in a couple hours. Forgot their names but it was two guys pro and con.

Yeah, and tonight he referred to owning guns as a "privilege" we are "given". He really doesn't get it either, although he's closer that almost anyone else in the press today.
 
O'Reilly said that the 2nd amendment gives US citizens the right to own a gun for protection. It isn't for Protection! it is a right, it is not limited to protection!

There should be no limit on the type of gun you own, what you own it for or how many you own.

I still give him credit for recognizing an assault on gun ownership.

I listen to him a lot, and the constant interrupting guests and outshouting them seems very rude to me. Maybe that's just his style, but it's the one thing I don't like about him.
 
Why anyone listens to or watches any of these broadcast blatherers mystifies me, and that they're given any credence, credit, respect, or validity puzzles me more. Just because a radio or TV network gives you a slot to spew your screwball opinions doesn't give you any legitimacy, in my book. These vapid talking heads should at the very least be ignored, and probably punished...
 
It's good for O'Reilly that he has a talk show. :o He isn't going to make it in the car parts business. :D :)

O'Reilly is better than Racheal Maddcow on MSNBC :rolleyes:.
 
I watched some of O'Reilly until I got company. He had Juan Williams on who is a black liberal. Juan said that he feels that the 2nd amendment only applies to the militia in spite of supreme court decisions which Juan was aware of. Even though Juan does not believe in universal gun ownership, when asked by O'Reilly what the solution to situations like this one Juan recommended, he didn't have any.

Costas has the same free speech I and you (all) do. Since Costas chose to exercise his on NBC, we have the right to know if he was talking for himself or for the network. BTW, I am speaking only for Jay Kellogg.

We have many rights outlined in the constitution. some of these rights were given by our maker and some were conferred by the government. At the root of all of our rights is the right to bear arms. Without this, we could lose our other rights at any time.
 
OK with baby steps, but I don't think he gets it. I think he would be too willing to settle for qualifiers; you can only have one of this, one of that, why would anyone need 18 revolvers, type stuff. He may be as good as it gets but he is a long way from being a spokesman. He doesn't want anyone to have an arsenal in their basement. Who gets to define arsenal, him?
 
Yesterday morning on Fox News during the Costa discussion anchor John Scot described himself as a member of the NRA and a handgun owner, no question where he's coming from.

O'Reilly is just a rightwing Howard Stern. He has fixed "opinions" totally impervious to facts and reason.

Like Stern, he'll ask the same question twenty times in a row, expecting to get the answer he wants if he asks enough times.

He's so enamored of himself that nothing really has a ghost of a chance of shaking his confidence in his own philospher king image of himself.

He's a step up from "sports commentator"... but a very SMALL step.

You HAVE to do that with conmen like Barney Frank. The problem is that it'd be REALLY helpful for him to actually know what he's talking about. A large part of the time, he doesn't.

To a large extent, he's Diane Riehm without the speech impediment, just repeating whatever dogma he agrees with, without actually doing any serious thinking about it.
 
Most of the talking heads meet that description cmort. Sad but true. It irritates me to bits when they continually interrupt their guests but i spose it establishes a modicum of control
