Orgional war issued 45acp half mooclips? Complet in packaging!

I'm helping a family friend with her late husband's collection and we have come across something I'm rather astonished by... can say I've seen anything in like these before

Are these orgional issue what are they and what are they worth?

Any help would be appreciated...

My 'WAG' would be that those were intended for the 1917 type revolvers and are probably corrosive.

There is 1917 in the collection so I figured as much, really I've never seen these in orgional packing like this

I've seen them for sale at gun shows BUT it was at least 15 years or more ago!

The boxes even say for the 1917. "Smokeless" powder, old, so corrosive might be a good guess.

I think even in today’s inflated atmosphere, those packages of loaded clips are worth substantially more than shootin’ ammo.

BTW, Those half moons are so much better than what is being offered these days. They're actual spring steel and not the soft, bendy stuff like the last batch I got..

Sistema the quick answer is YES. Lead round nose for the 1917 because they were designed to only be shot in that gun.

Cartridge collectors would drool. As I own two 1917 revolvers, I'd be interested in buying a pack or two just to have.

It’s smokeless powder, but I’ll bet the primers are mildly corrosive, which is kind of like being mildly pregnant.

Respectfully disagree. Lead bullets for military use proscribed by Hague Convention. Those appear to be cupronickel jackets.

Check head stamp for date and mfg. As posted by shil they projectiles are FMJ and primers are corrosive. Unopened boxes worth more than opened ones, check gunboard for value? Had several unopened boxes in my WWI collection which my son now has with 1911 and 1917s. Correct belts pouches and holsters, uniforms too.

That's a rare find these days and yes, they have corrosive primers. I would not shoot them, original rounds still in the original packaging is bound to be worth far more than their value as shooting ammo.
