Original 686 Box Size

I have an opportunity to purchase a box for my 686 6inch barrel. The box I am looking at originally had a 2 1/2 inch barrel. Both guns were manufactured about 1983. I do not have access to the box so my question is all the boxes for the 686s the same size? Is the box for a 2 1/2 inch barrel the same size as one for a 6 inch barrel? Thanks for your time
