Original -9c safety delete?

I'm looking at removing the thumb safety on my original (1.0) M&P-9c and installing the tabs in the remaining cutouts. My understanding is that there isn't any functional or design difference between the no-thumb safety version and the thumb safety version - with of course, the exception of the thumb safety bar. As such, removing the thumb safety and installing the tabs won't change anything with the normal function of the pistol.

Super easy and smith and wesson will ship you the plugs free.

Correct. However, you should save the safety lever, detent and spring in case you change your mind or one day sell it.

I have one and the safety is not very positive. A friend has had his safety go on and off while in the holster. Now the shield safety seems very positive and many people just leave that safety in off position with no concern that a bump may engage safety.

9 C Safety Issue

I returned a Galco holster which unexpectedly and consistently moved the safety from Safe to Off when holstering my 9 C M1.0. My experienced shooting buddy tried this with my 9 C and the holster with the same result. Galco was very responsive and provided another model in exchange. Thanks to Galco!!

Called S&W customer service just now. Left side and right side safety plugs on their way. Great CS support from S&W!
For those wondering why I want to remove the safety. I'm buying an OWB kydex holster for the -9c so I can use it as one of my CCW choices. None of my other CCW's have a thumb safety (which is really unnecessary on the M&P line), so I want commonality of function. Also, the holster I'm buying is designed for no thumb safety models (keeps it that much thinner).
I bought the -9c for my Wife's use a few years ago. Well, I decided I'm going to buy her a new M&P 2.0 compact (no thumb safety) for home defense. She has gained enough experience, and has demonstrated her consistent ability to keep her finger out of the trigger guard until ready to fire - as such, the thumb safety is redundant.

Edit: I do plan on keeping the thumb safety so I can return the pistol to stock if needed.
