Im going to go check out a 2.5" 19-3 later today and wanted a little education before I go. Its blued with wood grips and looks to be in good shape, but the pictures are a bit poor quality.

Other than the usual timing and lockup to look for, is there anything specific to the 19-3, especially how to know if the grips are correct?

From the pictures it looks to have a ramp front sight and a semi-target hammer with thin checkered wood grips with the S&W medallion on them. Also unfortunately no red on the ramp

Red ramps were a little less common on 19-3 snubbies.

Factory grips for that era were checkered wood magnas; one of the panels would likely have had the 19's serial number stamped in if they're original.

Otherwise, look for all the usual stuff one would on any used revolver; plenty of searchable threads here about that if you're new to revolvers. ;)

Thanks for the help guys! It came home with me today and it is in fantastic shape. It has the tightest lockup of any of my Smiths, its incredible. Stocks are factory with matching serials too. Unfortunately no box, but I think I'll let that slide.

Please pardon the poor picture quality
