After being in NY for a while, we got back home to SC and our TV channel for CBS was just static, so we rescanned the airwaves.

WOW, I don't know what happened, but we got 18 new channels, and some of the ones that were a bit fuzzy are now clear. The missing CBS channel moved to a different part of the spectrum and looks better. We receive 50 clear channels now, and would probably have more but Paris Mountain blocks our sightline toward Charlotte to the east.

Any of you Cable-Cutters out there with OTA antennas, rescan once in a while. You might be surprised what is out there.

I'm not really a cable cutter, because the only times I have had cable was when it was included in the rent and occasionally getting a month of Sling to watch March Madness or the like.

I do know what you mean as far as rescans of the OTA box. I rescan every few months and frequently gain 1-2 new channels.

I get different levels of reception at different times of the year. Might be due to tree foliage variations, I'm not sure.
Anyway, I do rescan every few months.

Your coaxial cable may have become exposed and the signal will vary depending on how much water is in the dielectric.

If all the stations you receive are in the UHF band, then foliage could make a difference, and that's why it is important to get your antenna s high and clear as possible. VHF hi-band and especially VHF-lo usually cut though vegetation with no difficulty.

Thanks for the comments.
Antenna is attic mounted inside; only UHF available in our area.

My outdoor OTA system....the rotor and booster seal the deal...
Picks up so many channels the repetitive ones have to be deleted.

I live under the hill and get one PBS station kind of fuzzy. We also get 45+ mph winds so I am not really excited about putting up a 50' tall antenna.
