OVERUSED WORDS!

Off hand I can think of a few words that I consider over used.
When something is really cool, many call it the ultimate. Ultimate
is the best achievable or imaginable.
Basically is often used to say something is true or correct, even
if it's not.
Vintage does not mean real old. It simply means "of age".
What words do you think are over used?

The local TV (i.e. leftist propaganda) station must pay its propaganda babblers a premium for using it. There is almost NEVER a "story" or report or even the weather without multiple uses of "As Well."

Proves my point that there is zero "news" today. Just politically correct, mindless sheep trying to read what is put on the teleprompter by the one or two who control their thoughts and words.

I've written many technical reports and come up against the foibles of several tech editors. Some love the word "that", while others go ballistic if you use the word "which".

Then there was one guy who seemed to think all sentences should begin with "the" to establish the subject. He would get pretty enraged when dealing with reports written by non-native English speakers, to whom the definite article was an unnecessary appendage to be used sparingly. Some of us (OK, mostly me) would deliberately start structuring our sentences to make damned sure they did not start with "the". At report reviews you could see this guy start to squirm if there were three or more sentences in a row that did not start with "the".

My worst experience was with a tech editor who viewed me the same way he would a child molester because I wrote a report in the active voice. I never got that guy, nor the senior engineer that agreed with him.
