I have a AYN prefix Model 60 snub that i think is a 1988 model, that i recently purchased as a police trade in from the Georgia Bureau of Prisons. I was wondering if the 110g Winchester +p+ would be safe to shoot in it. It is not marked +p so I was just wondering.

Before anyone asks I do not know what I bought the ammo as +p is plenty in a small revolver.
The pistol came with a set of Uncle Mikes grips that are about 1 inch long at the butt and the grips cover the serial number. What would be the correct grips for this pistol?

Thanks

With 110Gr and +P+, why would you want to hurt your hand that much? Why would you want to bring the 60 to a short life? I wouldn't go over +P, which are more than powerful enough to get the job done.

I know it sounds stupid and but I was afraid to shoot them in any of my pistols after I read the box.
I have had the rounds for a while and just wanted more info.

The +p gold dots I have shot out of my airwieght are really painful to shoot so I dont know why I bought them looking back now.

I guess that would be a good excuse to buy a .357 mag. Maybe it will convince my wife.

Thanks

You COULD shoot your +P+ out of any heavy barrel .38 K frame like the Mod 10s and the Mod 67s, etc. Do not even think about shooting that load out of any .38 Special J frame for the above mentioned pain and shortend service life.
Probably any K will hold up to a box or two. --Tom

Winchester lists this " +P+ "ammo only in its
Law Enforcement products.

LE Ammo

Winchester probably doesn't like it when Dealers sell it to the general public.

If you damage your gun OR YOURSELF you won't have any legal recourse.

There is no industry standard for +P+, so the pressures developed by such ammo can vary considerably depending on which company made and and who laid down the original pressure specs.

Recoil won't be too bad because of the light bullet/heavy gun, but the pressures will probably be abusive to the gun and the bullet used in that load seems to be somewhat erratic in expansion from one shooting to another.

A better bet would be Speer 135 gr Gold Dot +P, specially designed for snubs. That's hard to find so you might need to go with the 125 +P Gold Dot or the 158 gr +P Lead Hollow Point.

I am in law enforcement and I carry a J frame airwieght with a lasermax as a off duty weapon. I bought some of the 135 speer gold dot to carry in my airweight.
I was just wanting advice on the model 60.

This ammo will be a good excuse to use with my wife so i can purchase a 686.

Thanks
