+P through SD9

Can +p ammo be fired through SD9? Just curious.

Yes you can, just don't do it all the time. It will put additional wear on the gun.

As stated in the manual that came with your gun, the SD9 is rated by S&W for "all SAAMI rated commercial ammunition" which includes +P (NOT +P+). RTFM.

Practice with FMJ and use +P for the stuff nightmares are made of and you will be fine. If you don't want to +P, a few good rounds are the
Federal 9BP 115 JHP
Federal 124 Hydra-shok
Speer 115 and 124 Gold Dot
Winchester 115 JHP (Personal Defense Load)
Run some thru your gun to make sure it functions with them. Good luck.

Practice with what you will shoot. Because I keep my SD9 loaded with 124g +P Speer Gold Dot, I practice with 124g +P NATO loads from Winchester. I initially broke the gun in with 1,000 rounds of WWB 115g, however now that I only shoot it 100rds a month, I feel it's fine to run the NATO rounds.

Make no mistake in this....in physics there is no free lunch, and higher pressure to move bullets heavier and/or faster will cause accellerated slide velocity which will take its toll on frames and springs....heavier springs are no cure as they will just accellerate the slide faster the other direction before it is yanked/pounded to a screeching halt by barrel/frame....that extra energy is stored and then released, and it is the gun that pays....it WILL take its toll.

Its a C9 I got it for under $100 my buddy and I got a deal on some +P at a show so far I have about 500rds of +P through it and god only knows how many standard rounds.

Sooooo... the Winchester Ranger +P+ SXT's are going to be 'snappy'!

I have an SD9 'sample' gun that I use for demos (and is a bit of a 'dropzone bicycle' - if y'all are familiar with the term - I would normally use a more 'adult' term but I got hauled over the coals already yesterday...). My intention is to shoot the wheels off this gun (I hate to use the term 'torture-test').

A colleague has one which he uses on his training range which has a claimed 20000 rounds through it in the last 6 months. Still going strong.

That's an impressive number of rounds....should last a goodly time with standard ammo, until the plastic embrittles some time in the future, as all plastic does....as for "adult" language, seems most of that stuff gets picked up as kids trying to sound like a tough guy, and i've spent a fair amount of time weeding such childishness out of my vocabulary.
